I really like that this story shows it's the man who is insecure and not just the girl.
I am always in love with a handsome man that goes by Will. Will and Fern are so funny together. It was a unique love story.

No sophomore slump for Carley Fortune. While this might not be quite as good as Every Summer After, it’s close enough for five stars. I could hear the lake breezes rustling through the trees. I could smell (and wished I could taste) the sourdough. And the feels! Fern grappling with the sudden loss of her mother and a shift in her immediate plans. Will resurfacing with his own hidden pain. There is depth to the characters, even those in supporting roles. The author retains automatic “add to TBR” status.

I like the plot and the character/relationship development, but I just don't think I like Carley's writing style. It's very slow and she writes too much details sometimes when the books can definitely have a quicker pace.
Very fun to read about Toronto though as I live here and know all the places she refers to.

The younger non-jaded me would’ve devoured it. The older and jaded me enjoyed it. Sure the whole ‘meet me here after a year’ thing is as far removed from reality as can be but the author made me want to believe in it. Which isn’t an easy task (did I mention that I’m old and jaded).
This book has two timelines (then and now) in every chapter and diary entries by three protagonist’s mother. The diary entries felt indulgent and unnecessary to me. I was expecting it to add something significant to the story but it didn’t.
The two timelines are interesting and tug at your heart strings.
