I love this book. Max and Fiona are to die for! Their love affair is so beautiful and I cried at the end. They make me so happy. I’ll admit, I was getting a little frustrated. It took more than half the book for them to get it on, but I absolutely loved the wait. Great job, Kathryn !

So swoony!

4.5 stars I loved Max and Fiona's journey to love. Also Pop has my heart. I'm so glad that Fiona finally got her book and her reluctant, but in the end, so very romantic suitor. If you're looking for a book with a lot of heart, chemistry, and music, you can't go wrong with this one. ❤

My favorite book of 2021! I’m already calling it. Because this book had ALL of the feels. Reading Max and Fiona’s story was like falling in love for the first time all over again. The chemistry was fire from the second they met. And Kathryn Nolan has a gift for writing the steamiest scenes, even without any actual sex. The motorcycle scene. Just wow. It totally transported me. The best books are the ones that make you forget your surroundings and fall headfirst into the story. Not the Marrying Kind was exactly that book.

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.

Not the Marrying Kind by Kathryn Nolan is a fun and engaging read. The Quinn family reminds us that the world needs more love and music. I love a book with a playlist. It really helps me get in the vibe of the book.

Fiona Quinn and Max Devlin were raised in the music world but could not be more different. Fiona has a plan and a plan to accomplish that plan. Her plan does not include nomadic Max who is definitely not the marrying kind. When they reunite as adults to save the music they both love their attraction smacks the reader in the face and we all know the plans are being thrown off the fire escape.

I really like the secondary characters. They tie everything together. Mateo and Rafael are amazing as are the parents. Of course, I already felt like I knew the Quinn family from Roxy and Edward's book, Strictly Professional.

I did think this book was a little long but I feel like that's Kathryn Nolan's style. She's very thorough in her scene setting descriptions.

Kathryn Nolan has woven a fun and sexy story around all the music and I am here for it.

"Dreams aren't just for dreaming about."

Not the Marrying Kind is a fun and steamy opposites attract story about finding what you want where you least expected.

Fiona is determined to find a husband by her thirtieth birthday and has a plan, spreadsheets, and a contract to herself of how everything will work. Max returns home to help his Pop try to save his business. When Max sees Fiona he tries to get her to have some fun while he is in town but she turns him down. Once they start working together to save The Red Room both start to feel things they have never felt before but neither is right for the other or are they exactly what each other needs?

Max and Fiona were so fun to read about. The bad boy with the heart of gold and the good girl with the secret wild side. The flirting and sexual tension between them gave the story a bit of an unexpected but enjoyable edge. I liked the side characters and their bantering with the main characters. This fun page-turner was my first book by this author and it will not be my last.

"Guess you're right about that. I'm the best bad decision you'll ever make, Fiona. And that's a promise."

I really enjoyed this! I absolutely loved their flirting and chemistry. Their honesty and how straightforward they were with what they wanted and their actions were very refreshing.

These two are definitely opposites attract. Fionna is organized, has a very logical and strategic approach to life but there is an edge to her. She knows what she wants and she is willing to put in the work to get what she puts her mind into. She studied, graduated and after a few years she just wants to settle down and get married. On the other hand, Max is very carefree, never stays in a place for too long, always looking for the next adventure. You will probably think they won't work out but they figured it out. I liked how both learned from each other and tried to mix each other's lifestyle and made an in-between.

It was fun and cute. This was also one of the few times I didn't mind the 'insta lust/love'.

Love’s not a calculated risk. It’s a leap of faith.”

Fiona is coming off of a year of empty relationships. All she wants is to get married but she refuses to be intimate with anyone else until she can be sure they are the one.

Max is a wanderer. He doesnt stay in one place too long.

Max comes back to town to attempt to help save his pops place, The Red Room.

The sparks between these two and their realization is only complicated more because they both want very different outcomes.

I love how their story develops as they team up to try to save The Red Room. There are moments of nostalgia interwoven in the story that go beyond Fiona and Max's love story.

QOTD: What is your go-to genre of music?
My A: Alternative rock/pop is my go-to! Harry Styles and Rainbow Kitten Surprise are both always on in the background.
