This is a really amazing book, that speaks of how it's not just humans who love. The writer and his family's relationship with the dog has been described in a heartfelt manner. And this book makes every non-dog lover fall in love with Marley too.

Since I watched the movie before I read this book, I thought it wouldn’t affect me as emotionally or not as strong, I was wrong. This book takes you on all of the ups and downs that come with having a dog for a pet. Like many dog books, it ended in heartbreak and I found myself wiping tears off of my face. But the most beautiful part of this novel is that as you read, you can almost feel the love that John has for his crazy dog, Marley. From all of the trouble that Marley causes his humans to endure throughout his life, the love and care that they have for each other grows and grows. The only part I didn’t necessarily agree with was how Marley was cared for. He was left alone in hot garages for long hours and left alone in thunderstorms that he was terrified of. However, out of this I remembered that nobody is perfect and that’s no exception for Marley’s owners. John Grogan did an amazing job of depicting the real experiences of being best friends with your crazy dog.
Oh My Gosh!! I loved this book. I cried and laughed so much.
I don't think I have ever cried while reading a book as much as I did when I read this one... but I also laughed enough to make it totally worth it. I was touched by Marley, and know all too well about the love of a dog. John Grogan gets it, and Marley was life-changing in many ways. I read this book many years ago, but distinctly remember finishing it in the middle of the night because I could NOT put it down, and then bawling like a baby when I finished. My mother was alarmed and asked me what was wrong. I had no words! If you're a dog lover, this book will resonate with you, but be prepared for the water works. It's definitely a keeper though, and a classic for animal lovers. I will never forget it.
