Ava & Matt didn’t give me those lovey-dovey feels like some other literary couples - as a matter of fact, they kinda annoyed me!

DNF. I usually like Kinsella’s heroines but Ava was peak annoying Manic Pixie (not quite) Dream Girl.

I wasted my time reading this book i didn’t enjoy ANYTHING except the last two chapters. The FMC was annoying and childish and gave me headaches. That’s my first Sophie kinsella book and it will be the last.

Normally I have a lot of empathy and understanding for Kinsella’s main characters, but I could not relate to Ava. I found her frustrating for most of the book, even when she was making valid points. I loved the cast of side-characters, they brought the energy I was looking for to the table.

I have always enjoyed Sophie Kinsella for her charming characters with lots of laughs. This book fell short of my expectations. Overall, I liked Ava and Matt and the interactions with their respective friends. There were some humorous moments, but not the laugh out loud humor i have grown to expect. I liked it, but also felt disappointed.

they were so incompatible for most of the book, the second-hand embarrassment of Ava being so blindly “in love” was genuinely hard to read.

A Kinsella book is only one of two things - hit or miss. This one is a real mixed bag, but I would put it in the miss category alongside Twenties Girl and Surprise Me; I found it extremely difficult to get through the first half of this book because both of the leads annoyed me to the point of frustration. Only towards the end did I find myself more engaged, but that may have been because I knew the end was nigh. It’s very much a preferential thing, and if you love Ms. Sophie’s writing no matter what, you will enjoy it. For me, however, it was a frustrating read

The beginning wasn't so great, everything between Ava and Matt (Dutch) was just too perfect. But once they got home and continued their romance in real life things got a lot more interesting. Ava kind of reminded me of Shopaholic Becky with her flightiness and always seeing the good in everyone but I loved that series so that was a good thing. And the ending was excellent!

Light, entertaining read.

Sophie Kinsella was one of my favorite authors when I was a couple decades younger. Perhaps my reading taste has matured, but I found this latest book just "ok". The formula is pretty predictable & I found myself hurrying to finish only so I could move on to something else.
