Doubling as an overall series review, I feel that the series’s overarching problem is that the conflict, at least to me, feel like is build out of nowhere and become explosive so quickly.
Some other points:
  • Julie’s self-strife with her werewolfism is never built up until this volume, which I feel is kind of important to do if that’s one of the main things your main character grapples with.
  •  Lindi feels like a caricature and an “angry butch lesbian” stereotype possibly (as we don’t know her sexuality, iirc). Her explosive anger wouldn’t be as bad if we actually saw her outside of that, but since we don’t it feels pretty icky to me.
  • CT as a character felt super weak to me. I couldn’t pin down what her dynamic with Julie was, and am mostly just confused with regards to her.
The art is the definitely highlight of the series, it’s incredibly gorgeous.

A tale of office co-workers, told entirely in Slack messages! Gerald is frustrated by his interactions with Slack's chatbot. It is not a spoiler to say Gerald's consciousness gets uploaded to Slack, and he convinces his boss to let him continue working from home, while he figures out his next steps. Meanwhile his co-workers think he's "slacking" off since they all have to go back to the office. Add in Pomeranians, cryptic emojis, a broken desk, mild body horror, existential angst (not only Gerald's) and blossoming affairs. Loved it!

First of all this cover is stunning!! I was so excited to read this book and it didn’t disappoint! At first I’m not gonna lie it was a bit slow to get into and there was a lot of information dumped on you but as the story progressed and developed you got hooked.

The main character Bree is so strong and amazing. All the other characters are very likeable and it’s really interesting to see how their relationships work with Bree.

The cliff hanger at the end was unexpected so I can’t wait for the next book release!

Wrapping up my time with Moonstruck here. Love love love the expressive, colourful, adorable art, and the world—the most “urban fantasy” urban fantasy I have literally ever seen—is so fun. Kit’s design and Cass’s “dream world” were definite highlights in this volume.

But the characters are kind of…a lot? I couldn’t remember much from vols 1 & 2, but I knew I found Julie & Selena exhausting, and that continued here. Everyone just bickers and fights and cries. I commend the authors for balancing the emotional heaviness with lots of fun shenanigans and cute scenes, but I find it to be too much of a drag when the 2 MCs are so very…much.
