This was an interesting enough mystery but I only liked and cared about one of the POV characters so it got a bit tedious. I'm excited to try more of Kit Frick's writing though.

This book has a lot of great things going for it. I loved the message Frick executed well for the ending for both Paulina and Amanda. Paulina with coming to terms with who she is and being true to herself, and Amanda no longer holding onto the responsibility of getting her parents out of debt. I was genuinely surprised at who Private was and quite enjoyed the reasoning behind it. That scene was tense.
However, some parts felt unrealistic for me, I suppose. Something about the way Paulina and Amanda interacted with other people and each other. Some things just didn’t quite click for me personally. Also, the ending dragged on a bit too much to me. I felt like it could’ve ended slightly different, I’m not sure what I was hoping for exactly. I dont know though. Pretty good book overall.

I guessed the culprit.
Here’s what kept me from being swept away by the novel:
Amanda’s plight and persona are neither relatable nor believable for her age. The juxtaposition to Rosalie’s strife serves to minimize Amanda’s problems.
Rosalie’s difficulties are serious, yet she takes multiple risks for others that are difficult to accept, given the consequences she’ll face. The resolution/outcome of her story minimizes the trauma.
Great notions and intentions.
Strong writing skills.
Cohesive story.
Helpful afterward.

FYI, never read or seen Pretty Little Liars. Not into the stupid rich white drama, TBH.
I do really appreciate the gay rep and conversion therapy inclusion. That shit is EVIL. Rosalie's PTSD and struggle is done so well, IMHO.
I was SO into this book for Rosalie at the start. Then our resident bad girl's crumbling interior got put on display. Amanda won me over by not bowing down to Private's expose on Rosalie.
I did guess part of the endgame set up, but there's plenty of legit red herrings to throw off the trail so I wasn't exactly right either.
It kept me guessing. It kept me intrigued. I cared so much about these girls and love how it resolves.

Some of the plot was really inconsistent. I can't talk about it without spoilers but had some major issues with the twists realisms and loose ends. A decent read, and the dark kind of read I was looking for.
