This is the worst book in the series thus far: over-the-top nonsense. Maybe it’s me... I’ve never understood celebrity obsession and never had any interest in them whatsoever.
Becky is cruel and self-absorbed in this book. I felt sorry for her Dad, Luke, and Suze throughout. All Becky cares about was her own vapid nonsense, sometimes at the expense of her family and friends.
The whole plot line about her Dad and Tarquin running away seems a bit “out there” to me. I know we lost the plot for these books somewhere around #3 but this is just getting ridiculous.
There is NO point to this book other than to create a set-up for the next book. I am really disappointed that this series continues beyond #3 but I’ve come this far, I will see it through, albeit grudgingly.

Ahhh, this was a nice treat after finishing the Alan Turing book! Light & fluffy & fun. Great to be back with Becky, who has such trouble learning lessons, poor dear.
I did NOT expect this to end in the middle of the action, of course, and had no idea it was setting up for a direct/immediate sequel. The stuff with Becky's dad is certainly interesting, and in a way that is a bit different from the usual Shopaholic antics. I'm excited to see what happens next, and will continue to hold out for a release date of the next one!

I loved the first few novels in this series, but I think it is time to retire these characters. They do not hold my attention like the first books.
This series is getting awful. I mean, it wasn't ever great literature, but ugh.
The beginning was a bit slow, but it definitely picked up by the end. I'm really curious about what's next.
I had this book with me hoping it would be a fun, easy reading during my honeymoon week. Well, let just say that I read it halfway and wished I never picked it up. Becky... oh Becky... her reasonsing for buying things irriated me from the beginning until where I left off. This seires needs to END.
I gave this book 2.5 stars rounded up to 3. I like most of Sophie Kinsella's standalone books and generally prefer them to the Shopaholic series. I've always found Becky Bloomwood/Brandon to be a rather frustrating protagonist despite her charm. That was especially true in this book. She managed to delude herself into thinking she was a huge star (actually she just got a little attention for witnessing a celeb behaving badly) and acted terribly toward her family and friends. While she did have an epiphany at the end, it was too little, too late for me. No one is perfect obviously but I would have liked to see much more development of her character. Even though the book ended on a cliffhanger, I can't say that I want to see where the story goes.

The Shopaholic series is my favourite one for quick reads and this keeps up the momentum. Becky is so annoying in a real world scenario but as a comedy character she's pretty brilliant (I still see her as Isla Fischer in the film adaptation). This one ends on a bit of a loose cliffhanger so not a great standalone but there are plenty of hijinks on the way. Yes, hijinks. This is a hijinks kind of book and I love that for it.
I may have liked this better in print as I found the narration of some of the characters awful. Minnie’s character is basically as a whiny little girl and that was definitely emphasized in the narration and Sage who is apparently part French and would randomly have a word or two in a French accent. Very weird. Male characters weren’t very well done either. The story itself is the usual Becky Bloom fun fluff, but this one had some random tangential story lines that seemed unnecessary and unresolved.
