I keep coming back to this series because it is mindless entertainment, and sometimes you need that kind of light reading, but this one just irritated me. Becky is ridiculously shallow and downright annoying at times and I can't really relate as I don't understand the whole celebrity worshipper thing or high fashion or wanting to be famous. Even though she tries to do the right thing and make sound decisions, her inner turmoil is just aggravating to me. I can understand she wants to make a name for herself and having ambition is great, but for me, I just didn't like her to want to see her succeed. I'll still keep coming back to read the next saga just because I can't stop the train now...

I have loved the Shopaholic series but I thought this book was a bit much. Becky was a little too much in this book and I thought it sort of lost the essence from the original. It was an easy read though.

My comment upon reading the last page was "Well that's stupid". Since when are we doing cliffhangers, Sophie?

The saving grace of this book is that it was indeed better than the last few of the series - while still predictable and a smidge unbelievable, it was still overall a light-hearted romp that doesn't make me want to smack sense into lovable yet selfish yet well-meaning little Becky. The scenarios are still over the top but I don't expect much reality when reading Sophie Kinsella.

This was just what I needed, a nice easy book and story. I love Kinsella so anytime she puts out a book, I am excited!

Simple enough for a middle schooler to read (not a bad thing!!) with adults characters, making it a really fun beach read. I was hoping to cut this into a script for competitions, but the plot has a lot of small arcs so it might be hard. The ending felt a little rushed, Becky suddenly sees the error of her ways and rushes headlong into the cliff hanger.

A lot of times I wanted to strangle and slap Becky and tell her "Grow up, biatch! You're lucky your husband didn't leave you." I got frustrated as I was reading this, I don't know but I feel this is not the same Becky I fell in love with. What happened Sophie Kinsella? Please bring Rebecca Bloomwood back!!!!

Sophie Kinsella is, in my opinion, the queen of great chick-lit. She writes funny & smart characters that you really get into, understand and root for. Her 'Shopaholic' series has always been a favorite of mine (especially the first 3!) and I've loved all the books so far in the series....

except this one.

For those familiar with Shari Lewis and her puppet character Lambchop (especially the 1990s series she had when I was young), there was a song she'd sing during her show and it goes a little something like, "This is the song that never ends....yes it goes on and on my friend...."

Well that completely sums up this book.

The novel starts out as a fun romp and it's exciting to see what Becky, Luke & Co. will be doing in Los Angeles. The first half of the largest Shopaholic book is interesting and a good read. The second half? Not so much.

'Shopaholic to the Stars' tends to go on and on and on and on and on and on...get my picture? ;) Chapters are too long for what they accomplish in the story, scenes take forever to get to a point or to even move along the storyline. Quite frankly, by the middle to second half of the book, I didn't care about Lois and Sage, Becky's new obsessions and just wanted the story, which by that point fell flat and tedious, to finish already.

The book was alright; with certain scenes that are wonderful and reminiscent of the previous Shopaholic novels with its warmth, humor and sincerity. Otherwise, "...to the Stars", with its numerous storylines pointing here! there! everywhere! yet nowhere!, felt just as empty and shallow as the Hollywood characters that Becky became so obsessed with.

If you're new to the 'Shopaholic' series/Sophie Kinsella, definitely don't start with this one. But I have to say, every other book by Kinsella/Wickham is fantastic and a delight. Everyone is entitled to a clunker of a story now and then.

As always, the adventures of Becky Bloomwood make me laugh, sigh, and online shop all at once. I recently heard that Sophie Kinsella is releasing the next book in the series soon and the warm gooey part of me was really happy that I don't need to put this relationship to bed quite yet. Sophie Kinsella is definitely one of my go-to authors for fun, lively books that take me out of myself and cheer me up when it is cold and wet outside.
