Typical Shopaholic - Becky is up to her usual ways but only in Hollywood this time. I always forget how long Kinsella's books can be since they're such fast reads, and this is the only time it's actually bothered me. Because the ending- or, rather, lack of an ending - was really frustrating to me as a reader who just slogged through almost 500 pages of fluffy chick lit. Which is a genre I love, don't get me wrong, but part of that love stems from closure at the end. It was sorely lacking this time and I know to get it, I'm going to pick up the next book and slog through 400+ more pages.
It wasn't even the kind of ending that segues into the next book in the series, as Kinsella has done before with this series. I don't mind that. At all. But I do mind only one thing being resolved out of about 5 outstanding items. So based on the poor ending, 2 stars for me on this one.

I thought this series should have been retired several books ago so I was far from surprised to see Kinsella still churning out the same formula of lies and misunderstandings spiralling out of control. If you have read one of her novels you have read them all. Be ku has never been the most likeable protagonist but she is so far from relatable here it is hard to see why we ever thought her anything like most of us.
Much better than the last few in the series.... It was a very funny fish out of water type comedic novel. Even a little bit of mystery. Fun quick read.
Of all the 7 Shopaholic books, this one is for sure my least favorite. It starts off truly slow and does not get remotely interesting until the last 100 pages of the book. If I was not a dedicated fan I wouldn't have bothered continuing to read. It was captivating at the end and it made me excited for the next one but it really was 300+ pages of nothing prior to that.
I was also annoyed by the disconnect between Luke and Becky. For the first 300 pages it felt like there was nothing truly left to their marriage but low and behold Luke returns to his "normal" demeanor in order to save them again and then you see some hope in the relationship.
Also, Becky as a character has become very distasteful. I began to dislike her a lot in the first 300 pages of the book, but like the book itself, she redeemed herself during the last 100 pages.

I have read this series for do long, I always feel like it is catching up with a good friend when Becky comes back on the scene. And just like any good friend, I get annoyed and frustrated with her at times. Still- I love these books when I am in the mood for chick-lit. And I like them even better on audio.
Wow! I was just reading quite a few reviews of this book, and I think I'm in the minority, when I say I actually really like this book! Maybe it is because it has been a very long time since I've read the previous books, so I was just so excited to revisit Becky's world. I mean you've got to love the way the girl justifies shopping, I mean don't we all do this? And yes, she got really, really caught up in the Hollywood scene, and I think she lost all sense of reality. I think this is what people had the biggest problem with, it made her come across extremely shallow, and a lot less lovable. I do understand this, but then I think, what should we have expected from Becky in Hollywood? Perhaps Luke, who is a and extremely patient husband, should have known better. I really didn't mind the cliffhanger, and I'm going to read the next book immediately, I'm thinking we're going to see a little bit of a sweeter, more lovable, yet still unrealistic side of Becky.
These books are so bad. She is the worst protagonist. Yet I can't not read them.
Becky got to be a bit too self-centered in this one. Hard to believe anyone would still love a woman like this... And then to end with a cliff hanger? Come on! I'll probably read the next book, but SK is killing me.
Three and a half stars. I continue to find this series to be very entertaining. I don't think that this was the best book in the series but I'm still glad that I read it.
This started out slow and I didn't think I'd like it as well as some of the early ones. It did get better and I liked it alright but not as good as some of the earlier ones. Same old Becky basically. I got a little of tired of her trying to fit in in Hollywood. I was a little disappointed with the ending-what is happening with her Dad? I guess next it's Shopaholic in Las Vegas.
