Even though this was written in the 1860's, there's something that feels very modern about this. A gripping classic

After much struggle and multiple reading attempts, I finally completed reading this book...
The one not so straightforward narrative touches on multiple aspects such as love, friendship, illness, destitution, murder, charity, blackmail, deduction and not to forget Punishment.
The things which intrigued me were how far a person can go when he is destitute and how far he is also willing to go for love/self preservation...
It had so many aspects and I couldn't pinpoint and comment as I am yet to process some things...
Overall an okay ish read for me at my current state of mind.

reading this for class was really valuable especially since there’s just so much to dissect within this book. the religious imagery and the power dynamics were two of my favorite things to pick apart because they seemed quite unexpected. i will admit that i was confused for a good chunk of the book as to the meanings of certain actions or the inclusion of different passages, but it all connected at the end - a masterful work concerning the true nature of humanity, alienation, guilt, and more !!!
