This book his brilliant. The emotions are just so raw and brutal and made me cry only a few pages into the story.
The book is written in such a beautiful way, almost poetic and just stunning.
The descriptions are precise and heavily present and each character is developed in such a way that you feel like you personally know them.
I love the idea of this book, makes people aware of the necessity of organ donation but also shows what feelings and the mental process and acceptation that the donor's family go through.

I did take a star off because I skipped a few pages when the book went into too many details about the surgeons and doctors life. I understand the necessity, but I would have enjoyed more details about the family or the recipients.

There are some things I really enjoyed. I loved the attention the author paid to the different characters. She gave them such a great back story. I enjoyed following the heart from Simon to Claire. I also enjoyed the emotion given to Simon’s parents and the fact that his kid sister reacted as a real child would, not quite understanding but able to read a room.

What I didn’t enjoy were the sentences that went on for days, the overly flowery description of things that didn’t exactly matter, the use of the term harvest (it’s recover, we recover organs from donors), and the fact that a whole sentence could be a paragraph. These made the book hard for me to get through.

I won’t read this book again, but I would consider giving it to a few people I know.
