“If you’re trying to make me not love you, you’re doing a terrible job.”
The Apple Tree was an experience. It wasn't what I expected in the best way. This book and Sunday Morning hit differently, but both have the same size amount of love from my heart. You can count on Jewel E Ann to write another masterpiece because that's what she did with this one yet again.

I am so glad I found this book! This is one of my fav authors, so not disappointed. Very good pace, exactly what I needed after reading a slower paced story. The sensitive topics were handled well, I loved the character development that was so relatable. Spice was so good!

I know I’ve said this before but that say a pastor / reverend/ minister’ s children are always the naughtiest and I must say I agree , again , but Eve also reminds me of someone I know, someone I’m raising , she doesn’t want to conform , be put into a box , she wants freedom and to be herself and I feel that ….,,
Kyle and Josh move into the neighbourhood and Eve babysits Josh while Kyle is coaching and there’s a pill between these 2 that’s undeniable and poor Kyle is trying to fight us for obvious reasons like their age difference and the fact that her dad and brother are best friends but the heart wants what it wants and little Josh doesn’t help matters because he’s also crazy about her ..,
Kyle and Eve come to an agreement of sorts he teachers her things like shooting , boating etc and she has fun with little Josh and calls it babysitting 🤷♀️🙈🤣 and I think Kyle knows exactly what the meaning of temptation is and Eve knows how to dangle that apple 🍎 in front of him 😉
The banter between Eve and Kyle had me in stitches , they just get each other 🤩 but be prepared for a few twists in the tale , keep your Kleenex on hand , trust me 🤩
When you start this read , lock your door , switch your phone off , tell your family it’s stretch it starve for meals and just get lost in these pages 📕🥰
Gabby , I can’t wait to see what you bring to the table , read you soon sunshine 😉

When Kyle and his son move next door to Eve, there are a few things between them, including an apple tree. She also happens to be 10 years younger than him and his brother’s best friend’s (and preacher’s) daughter, but that does not stop the instant attraction between the two. When he asks Eve to watch his son, they grow even closer, yet he cannot help but try to teach her. Eve is struggling with living at home and wanting to make decisions for herself, outside of her overbearing parents. She wants to be seen as the adult she is, which also comes with its own problems. I loved that Eve stepped into a caregiver role with Kyle’s son easily: his costume was my favorite, but he also really helped her by giving her the strength to face her actions and become the adult she longed to be. Reading this book felt like we were maturing with Eve, especially when she was healing. The apple tree became a symbol for Eve and Kyle. She first tempted him with it at the beginning, but can he walk away from their situation and her?

The Apple Tree is a standalone in the Sunday Morning series. I promise, you can completely read this as a standalone (but you’ll probably end up reading the series).
It’s a love story between Eve and Kyle. Eve is funny, witty, and relatable. She is every girl with a crush, and we are her. It’s an age gap, small town romance with religious angst. It offers dual pov to explore maturity, morality, and generational trauma; and it’s beautiful. It’s not dramatic or repetitive, it’s a quick read and feels honest. That’s all you need to know. Go in blind, live it with them.
Honestly, I ate this book down to the core. Just enough spice, and everything nice. I would have loved more depth and character development- each characters scars were so interesting. 10/10 recommend.

When I read this was a age gap novel, I really wanted to read it. A huge bonus, is that Eve is also a preacher's daughter and just graduated high school. Kyle moves in next door with his young son, Josh. Kyle is 10 years older than Eve. Although this is the 2nd book in a series, it can be read as a standalone.
Eve is lost and free at the same time. Eve reminds Josh a lot of himself. Eve is not worried about getting in trouble at all. Eve is a pretty funny and snarky character, especially for a preacher's daughter. Eve becomes very close to Kyle and Josh because she babysits Josh a lot. Josh is attracted to Eve but knows the consequences of what crossing that line could cost. Kyle is also a little broken from a past relationship. These 2 together is inevitable, kismet.
At first I thought this novel was sweet, funny, taboo, and tempting. However, I was not at all prepared for the very real but dark turn this novel took! I'm talking almost made me ugly cry! I thought at a certain point these two were hopeless, in the worst way. I did absolutely love this novel, though. Without the darkness, this novel would've been too sweet.
I did not read the first book but this makes me want to go and pick up Sarah's book immediately. I don’t entirely know what Sarah did to get kicked out of the preacher's house, but that she chose love over her family. In turn, that still affecting Eve and her family in a major way. I think it probably made the father much more strict.
I read this entire book in one day because I couldn't put it down. Definitely 5 stars, for me. I loved that this novel is set in the 1980's and each chapter corresponds with a epic 80's song. The funniest thing was when Eve's mother asked if she was a virgin. Eve's response funny and priceless, as long as your not Eve's parents. Give it a try, if any of the above speaks to you.
I received a advanced copy of this book and voluntarily left this review.

The Apple Tree is my first book by Jewel, and hopefully not the last! Her writing is smooth, funny, and completely captivating—I was hooked from start to finish.
Eve is the kind of female character you can’t help but fall hopelessly in love with. At just 18, she has her moments of immaturity, but her charm and wit more than make up for it. She’s a sassy smartass with the driest humor—seriously, the number of one-liners I highlighted is borderline ridiculous. Beneath her precocious, devil-may-care attitude lies a well of emotion and past traumas she skillfully masks with humor, making her depth all the more compelling.
And then there’s Kyle—swoon-worthy in the most realistic way. He’s sweet, vulnerable, kind, and thoughtful, but not in a “perfect book boyfriend” way. He’s real. He doesn’t just go along with everything; he challenges Eve, calls her out when needed, and meets her as an equal. Their chemistry is electric. The quick banter, shared smiles and winks, and heartwarming moments with his son, Josh, had me melting.
This book isn’t all light and fluffy, though. There are moments that tugged at my heartstrings, adding a layer of emotional depth to the story, especially for Eve. Watching her grow was one of the highlights of this book.
The side characters also deserve a shoutout. Grandma Bonnie, in particular, is a gem—her wisdom and memorable quotes are pure gold. These secondary characters enriched the story and made it feel like a world you could step into.
At its core, The Apple Tree is a story about growth, love, and family. It’s about building your life, even when it feels like the people you love most might not be there to support you. It’s about taking risks, working together, and embracing the beautiful chaos of life. When love comes, it’s not about perfection—it’s about facing the fear, growing together, and making the journey worthwhile.
This is a truly beautiful story, and I can’t wait to read more from the author.

A coming of age story filled with forbidden love, angst and charm.
I absolutely loved Eve! I never had a rebellious phase as a child/teen so getting to experience it through Eve was interesting. Kyle is a single dad who needs a nanny. Kyle and Eve were very sweet. There is a significant age gap between them, but they are very similar in personality plus their chemistry was off the charts. Their connection was undeniable.
While the romance is sweet, the characters are complex. These two go through a lot, together and individually, and the author does a great job writing their struggles. This book could be heartbreaking at times because it felt real. Jewel E. Ann really pulled at my heartstrings with this one!
A really beautifully told story. Can be read as a standalone.
