I liked the first one better, because this one felt kind of repetitive? Rose on a mission in the dessert with Shen and Wren being stuck in a palace and Tor being there. There were some differences, obviously but yeah it felt quite similar so I didn't like that that much. Like It could've been nice to see Wren with Shen, because we haven't seen that much of there friendship yet in my opinion.

It had its ups and its downs. It was fine!  It picked up a lot near the end and I am going to read the third one but it wasn’t the most AMAZING book I’ve ever read. It was enjoyable and if you love lighthearted humour with some stakes, you will enjoy this aswell

Would've been 5 stars except I got annoyed by the naivety and whininess from Rose and the recklessness from Wren early on. They got so much better as the book went on. For the last third of the book I was on the edge of my seat. The comedic timing of some of the chapter perspective swaps was brilliant. And in general the humour was weaved so well! Still obsessed with Shen but Tor has competition, and he's currently losing for me 👀 Can't wait to see how it's all resolved in Book 3!
