This was my favorite book in this series. I am in love with Clara and Archie. By far the best characters in this series. There was so much frustration and chemistry between the two. I also really liked the mentions of previous characters to continue with their stories. I would love to see Clayton take this series further!

Loved this book so much! I can not wait for the next installment. This was a great continuation of her Hudson Valley Series. This was one of the best ARC's I have received from Netgalley this year. I thought the cameos of characters from her other series was a great touch.

3.5 Buns Stars

Hmm Ok I think I wanted to like this story more than I did.
I loved Archie, you can’t help but feel for him. And Clara is a likable girl don’t get me wrong.

But I think waiting for her to open up just took too long.
She expected Archie to just word vomit all his secrets and feelings but she keeps her all bottled up.

And believe me I get why, it just kinda of felt like she could have opened up a lot faster than having to wait till the last chapter.

I did like the back and forth with these characters and we get to see some of our favorites from books past yaya!
That’s always fun for me.

I just I don’t know maybe I was expecting more. Over all I enjoyed the story and the characters.

And the narration is fantastic they both bring this story to life in a way that made me want to keep reading.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

***Audiobook Review***

Another fun Rom Com by Alice Clayton. This book wasn't my favorite in the series but I still enjoyed it. I loved Archie, he was so proper most of the time but Clara got to him he was funny and sexy. Clara was also a great character, I liked how she was so independent but I also didn't like how she let that distance her from everyone. The chemistry between this two was lacking for me. I felt like they spent more time fighting a relationship than they spent having one. I loved how their friends in town came around a few times and gave that warm fuzzy small town feeling.

The narration was great. Elizabeth Louise narrated all but the epilogue. I enjoy both of these narrators.

Buns was such a fun installment and what a great finale to this trilogy. I was a bit nervous about this one as the second book was a bit slow for me. So that is why I did this one in audiobook but I have to say this book was FANTASTIC in audio. I just loved being able to listen to this one. It was so delightful and the narration was just right on this one here. There was something so unique about this story that just drew me in and is my favorite of the trilogy. Just with the combination of opposites attract, the sassy sexual tension, witty bantering and the charming small New York town that just drew me in right away.

Buns is a story that features two stubborn creatures that are behind it. The heroine is a workaholic. She works on saving hotels. She comes to Hudson Valley to save Bryan Mountain House. The head and owner of the hotel, is stubborn and fighting her every step of the way but Clara is determined to save the hotel and make sure that Archie sees reason. But these two clash in the worst of ways and their love affair ends up fierce and passionate....

There was something PURE FUN about this book. I just couldn't get enough of these two and the way in which they go back and forth with each other. You just feel the drawn tight tension that builds so wonderfully between them. From one moment they are arguing and then the next moment they are kissing each other like they need each other to breathe. Its super intense but also hilarious. I just loved the way that these two end up arguing and working together.

Overall I found Buns to be a delightful installment that had me falling so quickly in love with these characters and their intense romance!

Again, Clayton totally blew me away. First though, I had a bit of an issue with the audiobook because the narrator's voice was the same who does Tessa's voice in the audiobooks for the After series by Anna Todd, which I've listened to over and over. But soon enough I was able to get past it and really get into the story. While the main character, Clara, did one of those things that seems to be standard, but I never quite get, I dealt with it. I personally have situations with friends or family that I didn't have when I was a kid or still haven't had with friends, and if they were to come about, I would be so happy now! So I don't understand people who don't want them when they do come around. But I guess I understand the part about worrying about being disappointed in the end, the worry that usually drives these characters. I loved having all of the characters from the first two books come back, especially Natalie and Oscar from Cream of the Crop. And it was even great to have characters from both the Cocktail series, that I love, and the Redhead series that I own all of it, but haven't read yet, make cameos in this one. My biggest sadness though with this story, is that I have no idea what is coming next for the author. This is the final novel in this series I think, since it was just the three friends. So I'm very eager to see what she has up her sleeves next. Although, as I mentioned, I still have one whole series to read and another to finish.

I loved this. So much. So very much! It was a fantastic mix of everything I adore in a story: humor, heart, and heat! Just when I think this series can't get better, Alice Clayton ups her game and does it again.

I thought this was fresh and fun and I loved Archie and Clara. There was this entertaining, argumentative tension between the two that just made the story inviting to read. Clara was just so tough and determined, I loved her strength and how she was so self reliant. Archie was the sweetest! So kind and carrying and I loved how dedicated he was to his hotel and how everyone seemed like family. This is told from Clara's POV and with all the wonderful descriptions I really got a great sense of who Archie was and understood him. There was excellent character development as their histories are learned and I loved the build to all their details.

I thought the storyline was spectacular and enjoyed the struggles both these characters were going through. I laughed and cried for them and felt so much for them. I have to say, their first kiss was THE BEST. I was laughing and cheering and think that was one of the best scenes ever. I loved seeing Natalie and Roxie (these two are hilarious!) and catching up with them and really enjoyed how the other characters from Bailey Falls were incorporated. There was just this great attention to detail that had me hooked.

The writing was excellent. It was laid out perfectly as we get to know the characters as they come together. I loved the bits of drama thrown in as well. I was excited for what was going to come next. It was light drama but I was still dying for my HEA. I honestly couldn’t get enough. I found myself sighing and thinking "oh Archie" with a big smile on my face because he was just the sweetest guy. And Clara, this girl with her strong, tough, I-can-do-it-on-my-own determination that I so admired was also her own biggest obstacle. I loved how everything worked out and finally getting to that aha moment and the spectacular ending.

It was all just fantastic. For me, reading this story is like being wrapped in a warm cozy blanket.... while your hanging out next to your obnoxious best friend, having a drink, and talking and laughing!

This story filled me up so much with the funny, the animosity, the emotion, and sexy times. I loved it all. Buns is seriously high in the entertainment department and is not to be missed.

The Hudson Valley series for me has been a bit of a mixed bag. I enjoyed [b:Nuts|25056208|Nuts (Hudson Valley, #1)|Alice Clayton|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1445239638s/25056208.jpg|44737717], but didn't really feel [b:Cream of the Crop|25056216|Cream of the Crop (Hudson Valley, #2)|Alice Clayton|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1457375305s/25056216.jpg|44737722] as much. Buns is by far the best of the three and might even be my favorite Alice Clayton since [b:Wallbanger|15858248|Wallbanger (Cocktail, #1)|Alice Clayton|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1352205960s/15858248.jpg|21607771] (I KNOW, right?!).

What I Liked:
- A REAL HERO. I don't mind single POV romance, but at times it makes the character development a little thin on one side. In this case, I really got a sense of who Archie was and all his quirks. This is what was lacking for me in Natalie's story, but it wasn't even remotely an issue here.
- Trademark humor, but also feels. It isn't Alice Clayton without literal laugh out loud moments and absolutely great banter, but what disarmed me about this one is how much heart there is too. Clara's backstory is so impactful on who she is now and there were definitely moments I teared up over the the emotional struggle she went through.
- The setting. Like the food in [b:Nuts|25056208|Nuts (Hudson Valley, #1)|Alice Clayton|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1445239638s/25056208.jpg|44737717] and overall world in [b:Roman Crazy|27276297|Roman Crazy|Alice Clayton|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1450114434s/27276297.jpg|45794049], Alice knows how to immerse you into whatever world she's creating. This was no exception. The hotel setting and world she created in this book was so vibrant and clear, and I had no trouble picturing this world. As I often say: "I want to go to there."

What I Didn't Like:
- More running. This is totally arbitrary and I'm clearly grasping at straws to find something I didn't like, but as a runner, I loved that Clara was a runner and would just love even more running. Also, minor quibble, just that if she runs as many marathons and triathlons as she says, we never really see her biking/swimming
Spoilerexcept at the end
and I would have loved to been with her on a long run. Again, doesn't effect the star rating, but just my preference.

Bottom Line:
My favorite Alice Clayton in a LOOOOONG time has charm, depth and heart. I stayed up way too late just to finish it, my telltale sign of a five-star read.

I love Alice Clayton, and will read anything she writes. I really liked Buns. It brought me back to the same joyous reading high, that I experienced with Nuts. Don’t get me wrong, Cream of the Crop was good, but it was no Nuts. When I opened Buns, and read the first couple of chapters, I was happy dancing in my head. I was hopeful that I would fall in love with Clara and Archie, the way I did with Roxie and Leo. I honestly can say, I was not disappointed. I love a set of characters that have had personal struggle and obstacles. It just makes for a better, more interesting read. At least that’s the case with me.

I knew Clara would be an amazing human being, even with the simple snippets of her personality in the other books. She has an amazing suit of armour going, and has managed to keep all the hurt from her past buried deep beneath the surface of that armour. She’s a tough cookie, with an amazing job, rebranding struggling hotels. Her job brings her to the Hudson River Valley, where she is tasked with helping the Bryant Family, bring their Mountain Inn back to its former glory. Sounds easy, right? No so much. She immediately runs into an huge road block, in the form of Archie Bryant. Archie is the son of the owner, and is severly stuck in the old ways of doing things. His stuffy, stuck up suit persona, only fuels Clara’s determination to make this man bend to her way of doing things. This is the catalyst for some major heat, and tension between these two. There is a ton of push and pull, and at times the angst is off the charts.

There is a whole lot of heart in this book. Both Clara and Archie have their own personal demons to battle, and the progression of their truths, is wonderfully woven into the well paced progress of their story. I honestly have loved the feel of these books, and hate to see it end. I don’t want to spoil anything, or give too much away. This is just a wonderful conclusion to the Hudson River Valley Series.
