We are back with John, Caleb, and Gray and I couldn't be happier! I loved the previous SPECTR series and MOCKER OF RAVENS starts off series 2 with a bang. John and Caleb are back with SPECTR but the other agents are reluctant to trust Caleb and Gray after everything that happened at Fort Sumter. One thing I loved in this one now that John and Caleb have established their relationship is how supportive they are of each other. Their relationship, with Gray included, was just so sweet and sexy. I also loved the addition of Zahira, their new partner, and I hope she sticks around for a while.

Another good addition to an excellent series. Things have changed a lot in this next part of the series. Gray is a permanent part of the trio now, and things at the office have really changed since the events of the last book. They have a new boss, who is a real jerk, and people keep leaving funny little "pranks" for Caleb/Gray, proving that people never really outgrow being a high school bully.

There are, of course, some more growing pains, as Caleb feels guilty about possibly tanking John's career, but I get the feeling John doesn't regret anything. Excited to go on with the series, but based on reviews for the most recent book, I think I might wait until this arc is complete, as I don't have patience for cliffhangers.

I love this series and am so glad that it is continuing! It is the perfect blend of paranormal/horror and romance with a dash of humor thrown in.

Some of my favourite parts are Caleb and Gray’s internal conversations. They are as insightful as they are funny. They bring a much needed lightness to the otherwise grim background of the story. The boys are being treated horribly, after saving everyone in the previous series, and a new NHE threat is on the loose.

I also liked the introduction of their new partner and look forward to seeing more of Zahira. I think she will bring great things to the team.
The sex, as always, is hot. I loved the scene in the storm. I love how the ménage is managed with only two bodies.

The energy of the book was fast paced and kept me riveted. I am looking forward to the next installment already!

Enjoyable continuation/new-beginning, though I'm already tired of the cliched boss who doesn't understand anything and gives the protags an unnecessarily hard time of things. Most likely outcomes from that: (1) He's a traitor, like Forsyth; (2) He'll have a face-heel turn and come to appreciate the protags better; (3) He'll get eaten by something and replaced (probably not until book 5 or 6, though).

This is the first time we've seen a non-dracul NHE who actually had any chance of harming Gray, so that was an interesting change. Curious to see if that pattern will continue through this series.

After the events at Fort Sumter revealed the corruption within SPECTR, John, Caleb, and Gray are back at work, distrusted and given a partner fresh from the academy and so clean she squeaks. It seems that no matter what they do, everyone is out to get them and waiting for them to fail.
I am so glad this series continued and that we get more of this tantalizing and original threesome. I love how Gray and Caleb communicate and how they work John into the relationship. I can't wait to read more!

I really enjoyed finding out what happens to John and Caleb/Gray after the fallout of what occurred with Forsythe. It's not exactly pretty. I feel so badly for them, because what they did was heroic, yet certainly isn't seen so by SPECTR, and Caleb/Gray are really seen as something to be feared. Barillo made me want to beat my head against a wall. I really like Zahira Norrzai as the new Agent, but now I'm suspicious of new people, and while I love her enthusiasm and the fact that she's fascinated by Gray and not afraid, I worry that it's all a set up, especially when Barillo said she's the only one that would take the assignment, and she graduated at the top of her class. She's so nice and accepting, I _want_ it to be genuine, for John and Caleb/Gray's sake, just because it would be so great for them to have someone on their side. I know this review is all about the feels I had when reading the book. I think the continuing development of Gray as someone who views humans as somewhat non-sensical creatures but who is now in love with one of them is really progressing in a very cool fashion. I love his and Caleb's internal dialogues. In some ways Gray is so childlike, yet in others he _is_ the monster (or is capable of being) the other agents are afraid of. But he chooses not to be. I think that's one of the more intriguing aspects to me--the agents hunt NHEs yet they really have no more than a superficial understanding of them, which leads to a superficial understanding of their motivations, and in turn leads to their superficial understanding of Gray. They don't understand why John is concerned about things like a more humane exorcism, etc.. IMHO, this is why they don't understand why what John and Caleb/Gray did was such a huge, important thing, and why it was so important that they stopped Forsythe. I'm using words like important and understanding a lot. I guess it's because I've seen real organizations do the same sort of things to people who try to do the right thing, against the status quo of the organization, and are punished for it. To me, this was sort of a "re-grouping" novel, adding in Zahira and establishing how the office is running without Kaniyar. (I miss Kaniyar). I really liked the raven mocker as an NHE, and enjoyed that whole storyline. I liked as well that it was centered around a nursing home, another population that often isn't listened to, and absolutely loved that it was Caleb/Gray who got the information that was needed out of Miss Amy about Dr. McStubbins. The conversation between Caleb and Gray at the nursing home is hysterical as well. This is an awesome next novel in the adventures of John and Caleb/Gray.

Mocker of Ravens is a little monster-of-the-week ish, providing a platform for introducing a new partner (Zahira), and establishing the new status quo at SPECTR and between Gray, John and Caleb. I continue to really enjoy that three-way relationship and the way they complete each other -- and I'm very glad that this book did feature the three of them actually communicating (always a bugbear in romance).

Still, the mystery part felt monster-of-the-weekish, and I'm wondering what's really coming next for the team. Zahira's a nice addition, either way!

It is no secret just how much I absolutely love Jordan L. Hawk's SPECTR series. I can recall vividly, the moment I cracked open the first book in the series and after reading the first couple pages I thought to myself: "Holy Mother Father! This is awesome!" She completely blind sided me. Within a handful of minutes I was engrossed in this amazing, visual world she created and how deeply invested I became in her amazing leading characters: John, Caleb and *swoon* Grey! I devoured these stories and whooped for joy when they realized their HEA in the end. That was a bittersweet moment for me. After all, who can resist Grey?

Imagine my joy when Hawk brought back my boys. Mocker of Raven's is the first book in the second installment of this series. The first installment ended with our heroes kicking butt, saving lives and finally finding a dynamic that made their relationship work ( considering Grey and Caleb share a body). I do not like giving away spoilers so if you haven't already ( are you crazy?! ) read Books 1-6 [b:Spectr:|25565297|Spectr (The Complete First Series)|Jordan L. Hawk|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1432056007s/25565297.jpg|43274981], of the first installment before starting this one.

The first installment ended (in my opinion) lauding John, Caleb and Grey as heroes. Unfortunately, such is not the case in Mocker. Instead of being thanked for their hard work. John, is looked down upon for working with the Vigilant and his lovers/partners Caleb and Grey, are feared; constantly harassed by fellow agents. Poor Grey, in doing his duty is branded as dangerous. A reckless parasitic monster to be put down. So much unjustifiable hate. New paranormal entities to seek and destroy. A hostile work environment. A new partner that promises to keep our boys on their toes. I can't take it!

This second installment is off to a fast paced, heart pounding, tantalizing start which I suspect will be an adventure that's just as entertaining and fun to read as the first! I can't wait to see where Jordan takes me next. She officially has me hooked and I am craving more.
