I really enjoyed this story. I saw something that there is a planned sequel. I certainly hope so and will definitely listen to it. I need to know what happens next for Mulligan and the rest.

cozy fantasy

This felt like it had huge potential but didn’t really pan out. Still it was enjoyable in a ‘cozy fantasy’ way

This is a lovely book. It’s very restful- nothing much happens, but the descriptions are fun, the characters were kind, good people. I enjoyed spending time with them! Since there isn’t a whole lot to the plot, most of the fun is getting to know the house and seeing how the main character adjusts to his job as the Wizard’s butler.

This was surprisingly awesome! It sounded interesting so I thought I'd give it a go despite it not being in the genres I've been reading lately. I absolutely loved it. It's a terrific slice of life featuring an ex-army vet who decides to try his hand at butler-ing. I am honestly fascinated, and I can't wait to read the sequel. I hear there will be one, titled The Wizard's Cat. God I can't wait! This was just an all-around good read. Relaxing to boot.

Roger Mulligan is a retired army Vet and paramedic who takes a job looking after an old man who has dementia and believes he's a wizard. He takes it for the money initially but find the pace of life suits him!

I really really wanted to love this book but it fell flat for me! It definitely has cozy vibes, the stakes are pretty low and there's heaps of slice of life detail. But the character of Roger just didn't strike me as believable, for someone so concerned with security he certainly spills the private details of the house to anyone who will listen! The way the overarching plot is solved is also kind of meh

Overall a great idea but not well executed imo
