Carnegie's book is pretty good advice if you want to work in business, especially in sales, as well as in other workplaces.

The title for the book about 'friends' could be misleading for some people though as it is not really about making friends socially.

It isn't easy to review this book. In some ways, it is insightful and is a great case study into what makes people tick and how to draw the best out of people, especially in one's capacity as a manager/leader. However, as highlighted by others, strictly following this advice will turn you into a 'yes-man', pandering to the whims and selfishness of others whilst being trodden all over. That is where I feel this book falls short - the lack of consideration over limitations to these 'laws' and situations where it might be best not to use them. It is useful advice on the whole, but one-dimensional and lacking critical thought.

Even though some of his opinions are out-dated and a few of his principles have been proven false, there is good info in here

Excellent tips if you struggle to get people to listen to you. I found some of the stories useful in understanding the points mentioned. Some of the tips did seem a bit repetitive, but I guess to influence people there is a lot of flattery and discretion necessary. As well as positivity to make friends.
Its very short and not too dragged on like other self-help books, which to me was a huge plus

One of the best books I’ve read for communication and sales. I think everyone can learn from this book especially if you find yourself arguing often

4.5 stars. Fantastic book and truly paved the way to make the “self-help” industry what it is today. This book is, in many ways, timeless. And if you read any non-fiction book in your lifetime, this should be on your short list.

The brilliance of this book isn't the advice alone. I have, and I'm sure you have, heard most of this advice before. The wisdom comes from the combination of the various pieces of advice and the relatable stories demonstrating their feasibility throughout the book. It was genuinely interesting enough to read that I didn't want to put it down, and I feel like it really did equip me better for life and relationships. I think one of the things that surprised me the most about this book, was that rather than just advocate doing a bunch of things, the author was advocating a change of heart in the reader.
