"....magic isn't inherently good or bad; it's what people do with that makes it that way."

This book is a perfect example of why you shouldn't listen to critics and reviews. While it wasn't as awesome as some of the other Fantasy books of 2015, I found it to be quite enjoyable. There is non-stop action from the first page and I easily devoured it one day. The supporting cast is outstanding, especially George. I loved the quick whit and underlying humor that isn't found often in this genre.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Felt like it took awhile for things to happen but it was easy to read.
Almost all the male characters have super basic names and that made me confused at first lol

"For fans of Sarah J Maas and Holly Black"

I'll admit, when I read that on the front cover, that had me hooked, as I absolutely adore both authors. I then read the blurb and the story intrigued me immensely.

At first, it was a bit of a sluggish read. But then, it got REALLY interesting.

I can most especially see the elements that fans of Maas would enjoy:
Elizabeth is Celaena in a way
Blackwell is Arobynn in a way
John could be any number of Celaena's suitors, but I think Chaol or Sam is the most likely.
In a way, Fifer could be Nehemia

The plots are vaguely similar, although "Witch Hunter" seems to take place in a fantasised Medieval Europe (especially England).

All in all, a good read. Definitely reading the sequel.

This book was recommended and brought for me by a friend as it is one of her favourites and although it wasn’t one of mine, this book still has some promise and I am interested in reading the sequel.

The plot was fairly basic and not too intriguing but I liked reading about all of the characters and complicated/almost politically forbidden relationships between them.

It was a quick read but as I said, it was interesting enough that I want to pick up the sequel. This book was lacking a bit of originality and it wasn’t anything too spectacular, hence the three stars but it was a fun little quick read that is probably a good start if you’re trying to get into YA fantasy.
