This was... a wild ride. It was definitely surprising, which I usually love, but it was quite a stretch, bordering on unbelievable. There were so many twists I felt like I couldn’t keep up, and I wasn’t a fan of the writing style either. It definitely had great potential, but it just went too far for me.
3.5 stars
I was quite surprised by this book. I thought it would be a standard thriller, but then there were so many plot twists and revelations that were so shocking that I questioned my comprehension abilities on the French language.
The reason why this book earned 3.5 stars is because of the pacing. It starts off strong: two strangers, Alice and Gabriel, are handcuffed together in Central Park. Alice has no memory of how she got there, and she finds her clothes stained with blood with an unregistered gun in her handbag. My heart was racing. This is such an exciting start! But then the plot slowed considerably, interjected with flashbacks to Alice’s past. The plot does begin to pick up towards the end, but it was way too far into the book. I did consider dnf-ing this book at some stages.
I liked the dynamics between Gabriel and Alice. They obviously hate and distrust each other, which makes their jabs so much funnier. Until the final reveal about Gabriel. And then I became a bit concerned on how ethical his actions are...
Central Park is an interesting read, very different from your standard mystery-thriller. I liked the plot twists (there are many, so do try to keep up) because it left me reeling. The middle of the book does drag on considerably though. Overall, not a bad read!

So, my friend recommended this book to me.
The first 150 pages were quite hard to get into the story, but then it is so mind blowing that you cannot put down the book. It has so many surprises, and you just want to continue to see what will happen next.
Yet, I did not really like the plot. It is too confusing, and I was not really satisfied with the ending.
I will give this book 4 stars because I think the rising action and the climax are good. However, I will not give 5 stars because I think the falling action and the resolution are too complicated and took this story to a different kind of genre.

ENFIN… MAGIQUE ! EXTRAORDINAIRE !

Me sorprendió muchísimo.

If I could I'd give it a 3.5 but the twist inside was incredible! Really read this book! Because even if it's not my favorite I don't regret reading it!
