I love this series! I was so excited when I found out another installment in their story had been released and I was not disappointed. This story follows the lives of the Kopp sisters after their exciting adventure in Book 1 (Girl Waits with a Gun). Fluerrette has decided to learn acting and perform on the stage while continuing her sewing of beautiful dresses that are very impractical for living on their farm. Norma goes even deeper into raising her pigeons and keeps the farm running. Constance takes a job as "deputy" to the sheriff but runs into all kinds of trouble actually making that position a reality. Being the first woman to do anything is pretty hard. As she performs her duties as a ladies matron of the jail, she ends up entangled in the disappearance of a prisoner and holds herself responsible for bringing him back. This story focuses more on how she uses her detective skills to bring about justice and less on her and her sisters' lives. I can't wait for more stories involving her. The author also includes a list at the end that ties the real events and newspaper clippings into the fictional story. I highly recommend this series!

As entertaining as the first book, but not quite as gripping or charming. Constance's main motivation is guilt, and I don't find her constant guilty mental spirals that compelling. It's too bad to see less of her sisters, but watching Constance gain some independence was great.

A fun sequel to the last book! Looks like this might be the last one which is sad. I really like the stories (based on actual events). I'll look at other books by this author.

I've enjoyed this series because the author uses many facts and actual people. Stewart also reveals in the afterward which pieces of the story are fact and which are fiction. I find Constance fascinating because she does not fit into the era she was born to and struggles with her identity. Her internal struggles are germane for many women today. I think because Constance is an historical character, her character flaws are genuine, and I have more sympathy for her plight than if she was a figment of the author's imagination.

I missed how Lady Cop Makes Trouble does not....

I loved this sequel to Girl Waits With Gun. At first, I feared I wouldn’t like it as much as the first book, but I was soon drawn into the story and hated to put it down. Now I’m sad that we’ll have to wait quite a while for Kopp Sisters #3. . . .

I particularly admire the way that Stewart has been able, in both books, to build on and weave together real-life events in the life of Constance Kopp to create such a successful work of fiction.

And oh, I was so tickled by the cameo appearance of Dr. W. C. Williams, who tells Constance: “Medical books are very dull, so I keep them by the bed if I have trouble sleeping. Do you read much poetry?”
