A must-read! Ms. Jackson has done it again! A beautifully written narrative about the struggles of young black girls and the adult men who fetishize them and are never held accountable.

I give this book 3.5-4 stars. It’s a tough subject and while it draws a lot of comparisons to a certain heyday celebrity’s life, it does stand on its own as a gripping and uncomfortable look at men who abuse their power. The chapters were super short so it was easy to keep reading, although this book really isn’t for the faint of heart. Without giving anything away, there was a sub-plot I didn’t really like and wish wasn’t included. I feel like it detracted from the seriousness of the issues presented, but I also recognize that the line between reality and fantasy/delusion blur and completely fall out the window when particularly heinous trauma occurs. Anyways, I truly applaud this book for giving BIPOC women a voice while also examining and straight up calling out the absurdity that is the music/entertainment industry. Also, I did enjoy the ending. Felt appropriate.

Hyytävä, pysäyttävä, surullinen ja ajankohtainen kirja. Ei herkille lukijoille, mutta jos ei sellainen ole, kannattaa tarttua.

A pretty easy read but be aware that it deals with mental, physical, and sexual abuse and may be a trigger to some. The story overall was good, but there are two subplots that ultimately didn’t add anything to the story. Those two subplots - Don't worry much time isn't spent on those two subplots- ultimately led me to rate it a 4 out 5.

WHEW This was ALOT!
About 40% in, and I was disgusted by Korey’s grooming, by all the other adults around him that didn’t seem to hold him accountable. He Knew Better!

I’m glad I finished this as a mom of teenage daughters I want them to read this book.
Our girls, little black girls need to be heard and believed and as the adults we have a duty to protect them.
Thank you Ms. Tiffany Jackson for this book. Although painful at times to read. Its needed

Wow what an interesting read. Deals with all types of issues such as grooming, issues around race, victim blaming and abuse. Imagine reading a book and getting angry at the characters like it is real life. Actually, we hear stories similar to this quite often and you hear the same things ‘why did the parents let her go’ ‘she knew what she was doing’ ‘she lied about her age’ . It is infuriating to say the least. But let me not digress.
Tiffany Jackson did a great job with this book. I finished it in 2 days as I couldn’t even put it down. Literally couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next after each chapter.
Would highly recommend.
