Reread 2023 -

I love how Ottoman's novella length romances are the perfect mix of historical background of New York in the 1900's as well as the romantic arc of the relationship. This is a poly T4T relationship, has more vibes than plot, and I loved the narration on this. Very cottage-core, very cozy, loved the poly dynamic between the leads.

I need to re-read this when Life™️ is not being such a b*tch, I am sure I will enjoy it even more. That being said, I LOVED the overall theme of finding your safe place, in a world that is so actively hostile towards you, and allowing yourself to breathe and find happiness, in whatever shape that may be🥰🥰

wtf! This was short and thank god for it cause honestly it was so unnecessary. Like I could barely get through it and it was more boring and confusing than anything.

O M GEEE!! This freaking book.
This is a steamy American 19th century historical romance between two trans women and one trans man. And I am obsessed! Despite their individual hardships, these three manage to come together and curate a safe space for them to heal and live their lives without outsiders.

Madeline is in need of a break from everything when she is offered an escape. Victor opens his home to Madeline and the two immediately hit it off. During Madeline's stay, she meets Audrey (Victor's neighbor) and Madeline sets her sights on Audrey. There's only one problem, Madeline hasn't even kissed anyone. Victor enlists his help and guides her. Madeline ends up falling for the both of them and doesn't want to pick - what's great is they don't want her to pick either.

Madeline is the sweetest baby angel, I lover her so much.

Victor is spicy and knows how to make your knees buckles.
"You need to tell me with your words."

Audrey is pure light, she literally frolics and gathers mushrooms. Audrey is spicy too!!
"Did I tell you you could touch yourself?"

All vibes, this book was amazing!!

can't decide between 4 stars and 5 tbh. this book felt like a hug. my heart is full. read it.

the good shit:
- 3 trans MCs
- polyam
- good smut
- good fluff
- no transphobic shit or huge conflicts to deal with, just 3 babes navigating a relationship and healing together

reread August 2022:
-I would like the scene between the three of them in the second-to-last chapter tattooed on me, please and thank you

Madeline is looking for a change and finds herself moving in with a recluse in a small town. She achieves her wildest sexual fantasies with her new roommate and next-door neighbor. This is a book about trans joy and finding your family in places you least expect. It's very spicy and the scenes are written very well. I really enjoyed Audrey as a character.

I didn't realize cozy spice was a genre, but here we are! This book was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of personal enjoyment, but I definitely see its charm and I would recommend it to trans women craving some beautiful, affirming spice. I'll definitely make my wife read it for that reason (not like, actually force her xD Just very insistently recommend haha)

The story is the definition of no plot, just vibes. The personal issues/histories are never examined much and I don't think there were any stakes? If Legends & Latte is low stakes, this is definitely no stakes. That being said, it is an atmospheric, comforting read. There's a lot of detail put into the meals that are prepared, the nature walks taken, and of course, the intimacies shared.

I think this is a great, calm comfort read for the queers desperate to abandon Capitalism and live out their poly cottagecore fantasies.

The only thing that really bugged me (apart from some of the structure not really working for me) might be a small spoiler. I'll keep it vague, but be warned:
Spoiler I don't like that Victor gets so much crap for writing books that sell. I think the whole accusations of becoming a "sell out artist" aren't super well handled and I was pretty annoyed with Audrey for consistently making the point that she just creates for the sake of it and not to earn money, because she has a farm and knows how to tend to it. She makes money through other means. Victor *only* has his writing, so like... don't shame him for wanting to buy groceries?

It didn’t have much of a story arch, but I enjoyed the simplicity of a trans polyamorous love story. Giving it three stars cuz I wanna see more T4T stories out there.
