Since most of his books were published after his death, getting some perspective from his life-partner created a better picture. I learned that he never wanted his books turned into films, but his estate (not his partner) sold the rights for his books. It also provides more context to the state of mind that these books were written in.

Like many, I loved the [a:Stieg Larsson|706255|Stieg Larsson|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1246466225p2/706255.jpg] Millenium Trilogy. And I was fascinated by his story. I did feel there were many biographical aspects that the book should have gone into more depth with and I was not particularly impressed with the writing. But I'm a fan, and I've been anticipating this point of view for some time. Larsson was a fascinating individual.

Interesting revelations about Stieg Larsson. He died without a will. His unmarried partner got nothing and his estranged brother got all of the money from Stieg's books

I loved this read. I have seen the Swedish version of these on DVD, and am about to begin reading the books. But, I wanted to know more about the author. Reading this book gave me great insights. Eva tells of how parts of the Millennium Trilogy came from Stieg's life, her life, and his past. He was a journalist before he wrote this, and while he wrote it. Which , works well for the perspective shown in the dvd's. You can feel her broken heart from her loss, and read of the life Stieg led. It was a dangerous one where he had to watch out for those who would hurt him for what he was willing to write about. It makes me even more excited to read the books and see if I can pick out those parts she pointed out to see the connection.

I agree with other Goodreads members who felt this focused too much on the legal battle over Stieg's intellectual property. While I appreciate what Eva must be feeling about what she is going through, I expected it to celebrate the man a little more (and wasn't honoring him her main concern anyhow? a little ironic there...)

Fascinating look at the politics surrounding untraditional relationships and inheritance as it relates to Sweden

Comprehensive, clear, touching, and very, very convincing. Really conflicted now (how many C words can I fit into this review?) about seeing the movie - either movie, Swedish or American - because royalties will go to Larsson's father and brother. This uncovered a great deal of information connecting the works to more of Swedish politics and history than I'd ever thought to wonder about; they're a rich, thorough representation of all that modern Northern European life can be like, disguised as airport crime thrillers. Excellent.
