This was a great cabin in the woods type of horror story that still kept me really engaged. I really started to enjoy the characters and kept thinking I knew what would happen next: but ended up surprised by so much.
A few things that brought down this read for me was 1. It took a LONG time for the main characters to actually deal with the monsters, a majority of the book was their relationship drama and 2. I wish they actually had some connection to April’s attack or closure with her. It felt very odd to leave that open ended for the other characters to wonder what happened to her.

I love Ania's stories. She creates these monsters that are actually creepy as you read the words off her page. Give me atmospheric wintery horror with genuinely creepy cryptids. Sold.

O Brother Where Art Thou?
For those of you who read Brother and loved it, you should probably pass on this one. Silly, contrived b-grade monster fare involving 20 somethings caught in a cabin during a snowstorm while hungry creatures abound outside. Don't care about the characters, or their drama and nothing new or original about this very basic b-movie plot. Barely finished. And what was the deal with the chapter of the drunk plow driver's called in to work? That had absolutely nothing to do with the story.

the author is an amazing writer the imagery was so well-done and the characters were really well written i knew exactly who these people were. i didn’t love the characters though and april was honestly my favorite. was a little disappointed with the ending i would’ve liked more of a resolution.
