My Mum encouraged me to read this after going through my first breakup, and it definitely hit a lot of the right notes, but while the stories told very unique experiences of grief, they were all from the perspective of people who'd been rejected, not the rejecter, which was what I'd wanted to read about. There's a specific pain that comes with making that call, and I guess I just didn't want to be reminded of how much it can hurt to be on the receiving end of that.

If there’s one thing this book clarifies, it’s that heartbreak is the same for everyone. I enjoyed the 3 stories even if they felt fictitious at times. The final chapter of the book, where the author writes about her personal experience, was my favourite though.

The book was also structured similarly to Three Women (a positive observation, in my case), going back and forth between the three stories. This style always adds some good ol suspense.

I loved this book. Especially the last bit “on romantic rejection.”
