This book is EVERYTHING I expect feminist literature to be and much needed in the 2025 political climate (even though I'm very late reading it). Zetian is an absolute gem for a murderer; asking all the right questions and never putting aside her justified rage. She presents a delicious conundrum where you live vicariously through her violence while recognizing that she is still a deeply flawed individual. Zetian is vengeance for all of us who will never get it in the real world.

Mostly a 3 star book but bumped it up to 4 for pure enjoyment.

Zetian is probably the definition of badass. She’s one of the most extreme versions of man-eater I’ve read and i fucking live for it. I like the slow unraveling of the society she lives in and I love how the ending completely changes everything about her society.

Also can we all pleaaase appreciate polyamory. So many love triangles in books would have been more satisfying if all the characters were together. This book does exactly that.

I think the writing in here has no nuance and very straightforward but I dont think I have a problem with it. This is one of those books where you get exactly what you thought you would get.

I’m excited for the next book.
