Such an easy to love series - both books and movies:)

Between a 3 and 4 star, but probably closer to a 3.

It's difficult remembering that Mia is fourteen because I keep expecting her to act like an eighteen or nineteen year old. In all honesty, her thought process (crazy as it is) isn't all that different to what I was like at fourteen. I really wish that I had these books when I was that age to be like "Look, Monica, you're not completely crazy!" I do wish that there was less "OMG MICHAEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and more "I like writing. I'm good at writing. Self empowerment--YAY!" but hopefully there will be more of that now? *fingers crossed*

(Also, this book kind of felt like endless movie promo?)

Some of my favorite culture references:

- SMALLVILLE
- Listening to a Discman on the subway
- "[We] are going to have a great love, just like Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt." LOL
- Mia on Sabrina the Teenage Witch: "Totally awesome during the high school/Harvey years. Good-bye Harvey = good-bye show."
- Mia on Gilmore Girls: "Many, many, many, many, many, many cute boys. Plus it is nice to see single moms who sleep with their kid's teacher getting props instead of lectures from the Moral Majority." (!!!)

I can praise Michael Moscovitz forever and ever and ever. Mia was a little more annoying in this one than I remembered so I docked it a star, but still so fun!

Now that she’s finally in a relationship with the love of her life, will Grandmere let her go out on her first date, or will Mia’s duty to Genovia take precedence?

I felt as if Mia was a little of on this one - we already know that Michael feels the same way about her, but she doubted everything from the get go. I grew a little tired over the Michael this, or Michael that. YES. WE KNOW. I felt that this instalment fell short of plot content, but I was able to get through it nonetheless.

Obviously 4 stars.

i am not afraid to say that i'm still totally into this series. it's so trivial, mia's problems are so trivial, she overreacts in such a relatable way, and the secondary characters are still everything.
this is the book in which mia, tina and lilly obsess over jane eyre and tbh they read the book so differently than i did it's funny.
yeah.
