Read it in one day! I’ve been hoping that the Jonquil parents’ story would be shared! This book was wonderful and full of the same fun humor and depth as in the Jonquil Brother’s series and Lancaster Family series—and further weaved together their shared past. It also setting the stage for a while new fantastic series as I’m sure we will be following the love stories of the other marvelous, lovable, lovable, mischievous Gents. I can’t wait, especially as of this moment, I can’t find out when the next one is set to be published!

Almost gave it four stars only because there were a couple of spots where the flow of the story seemed disrupted as if I had missed a page or chapter, or maybe a few scenes had been cut—the most noticeable ones happened towards the end. The resolution at the end felt a little rushed somehow because of that. However, the overall quality of the story, characters, dialogue, humor, and depth led me to bump it up to give it an overall 5 star rating.

This book completely destroyed me and then put me back together again. I absolutely loved it, and I will read it again every time I need a good cry. Amazing book, great experience to get to know the Jonquil parents. 10/10

I was utterly disappointed with this love story. I never felt interested. The way that the Gents were dragged into this story felt contrived and cheap. This whole book was written just to introduce the Gents while using our love of the Jonquil family. I had to force myself to finish the book.

I’m an official fan of the Gents. Can’t even tell you how excited I am for each “Gent” to receive their happily ever after. I really liked Kes or the Grumpy Uncle. His subtle hints of humor were just so clever and likable.

Forget Me Not is deep!! Let me tell you. If you’re one who is easily impacted by books that deal with abandonment or loss of loved ones, this might not be the book for you. I usually like to read light and fluffy books. Probably because I read as a pick me up. Thankfully, I felt like there were just enough happy scenes that made me want to keep reading.

REVIEW OF Forget Me Not by @sarah_m_eden

STAR RATING
4.8 stars

BRIEF SYNOPSIS
Once childhood friends, Julia and Lucas haven’t seen each other in years. When Lucas returns at the age of 29, Julia has grown from childhood playmate to a beautiful 20-year-old—whom his parents announce publicly and unexpectedly is his betrothed.

Julia’s inclination to live a quiet life at home and Lucas’s desire to see the world are not the only forces working against a happy marriage. Julia’s resentment over Lucas’s apparent disregard for her or her feelings has grown over the years. Can two people so different possibly find love in an unwanted marriage?

BRIEF REVIEW
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved Lucas, the historical details, the storyline, and the little amusing moments. However, I did feel like there were a few overstressed details.

BOTTOM LINE
If the idea of an arranged but unwanted marriage intrigues you, or if you are interested in the Georgian era, read this book.

Well this is definitively not a worthy book of Mater, though you will likely keep hoping till near the the end of the book...

As I have read nearly all Jonquil Brothers Books, I loved learning Maters story and getting to know Lucas. I was however quite upset with Lucas the whole time. Mater really ought to have tought her boys that their father also was just a human (and made lot's of mistakes!) And Julia does not at all fit the Mater persona we know and love from the other Jonquil Books.

And the second star was just for the delightful Gents and little baby Adam :)

And it was quite unrealistic and Lucas was being an Idiot most of the time (could you really have forgotten to write to her for 8 years but constantly thought of her???) and Julias situation struck a little too close to home for my liking...

Can't wait for the rest of the Gent's Books ;)

4.5 stars.

Lovely prequel (and book #1 in a new series) to the Jonquil Series books. This is a Georgian era romance. Setting 1785.

This book tells the story of Lucas Jonquil and ‘Mater’, aka Julia Jonquil. Although they had been childhood friends and then were separated by 8 years, theirs was an arranged marriage. Themes of different coping mechanisms to deal with grief and loss. Lucas handles grief by making a vow to live life to the fullest, on behalf of his deceased brother. Julia isolates herself after her losses, because it is easier to be alone.

Lucas’s fun group of friends—the Gents—are introduced.

If you are a fan of Sarah Eden, you will throughly enjoy this book.

Personally, I am not a fan of internal conflict! I get easily bored when all the conflict is in the main characters’ heads, they never talk to each other, and then it is all solved in the end when they have ONE conversation about it!

But this book was very well done. The two main characters do have a lot of dialogue and interaction together. They are both trying to figure each other out. I was entertained. :)

“Life is meant to be lived, and that is best accomplished surrounded by people who make that life full.”

For my own reference.
