I loved it! Really quick read, but so enjoyable if you're a fan of once upon a time the TV show. Loved the Rumbelle storyline, so cute!

Snippy background stories very in line with some beloved popular characters, which have somewhat rekindled the OUAT fangirl in me again. Especially loved the Rumbelle and Mad Hatter stories, as they do give us something slightly new. Something more substantial for the Killian and Regina would have been more interesting, though the advantage of their stories is that it is very in line with their context from the drama series. The artwork for the Rumbelle story is my favourite.

Like Shadow of the Queen, I can't see non Oncer's liking this book. The stories were pretty decent fillers for the series. The stories could have been filled in a little more. They were extremely sad and give a bit more to the characters, but it was so rushed. Regina's plot line seemed less likely than the others and, to me, didn't fit with show canon. I don't see Evil Queen Regina riding in a carriage through dirt roads all night looking for Snow, she has guards for a reason and she'd use them.

I only liked the art style in the Wonderland book. Hook and Belle/Rumble books were pretty good, but I have no forgiveness for the art for Regina. I saw the queen and I thought it was Regina but I had to read several panels to be sure, it could have easily been another queen. Her face looks horrible, and Regina never looks anything less than fabulous. It was so dark and scratchy.

It took me half an hour to read the entire book. Even though I'm a fan of the show, I would have been upset if I'd bought this instead of getting it from the library.

Part 1 is a beautifully drawn but simple story with Captain Hook, Part 2 is the worst one with a story we've seen time and time again with Rumplestiltskin and Belle. Part 3 is a dark, Del Toro style story with the Evil Queen which is the best of the four and then an interesting story that actually offers something new to the story with Jefferson/Mad Hatter.

Despite all the great artwork none of the stories are long enough to lift off. A better tie in and more harmless a graphic novel than previous ones but still nothing special.

"Out of the Past" by Kalinda Vázquez, Corinna Sara Bechko, Janet Lee, Betsy Peterschmidt, Pascal Campion, Vanesa R. Del Rey, and Stacey Lee is the sequel to "Shadow of the Queen" but give background to other characters like the Mad Hatter and the Caption Hook.

I would give "Out of the Past" by Kalinda Vázquez, Corinna Sara Bechko, Janet Lee, Betsy Peterschmidt, Pascal Campion, Vanesa R. Del Rey, and Stacey Lee a 5-star review because, 1; I love the illustrations 2; I like the concept of this book 3; this is a great book for fans of OUAT 4; I love learning more about some of my favorite characters from this show.

Reread this for the first time i years this afternoon. It was so nice to revisit this world. The first three stories are just short fun adventures. I found t he last kne about Grace's mother the one that added the most to the lore of the series.

Each story was illustrated by different people so they all had their own unique styles and I think the styles fit the characters and the lands well.

When it comes to OUAT books, this is defitnly better than the YA series when it comes to despuritng TV cannon and feeling like the original show. The images in the back of the costumes designs were so interesting and I enjoyed them. They're defibtly something that's missing from Behind the Magic.
