There were some good takeaways -- the microbiome in one's gut is mostly formed in the first few years of life, so while probiotics and better diets can help, you will always have a unique starting place that's different from other humans. A lot of diseases seem to have their initial symptoms or roots in gut health. There's no one-sized-fits-all approach to health and dieting because everyone has a different microbiome. Also, most serotonin is processed by the gut, not the brain.

Rated a four because I'm not sure if this book left me with more questions or answers -- it's a good topic, and it's certainly not the last book I will read about the gut and gut health.

A really detailed fascinating analysis of the connections between our gut and literally every other facet of living including psychology and anthropology and how we eat. Really glad I read this…still gonna drink Diet Coke tho sorry sir.

Too much of the same thing over and over. Couldn't finish because it wasn't actually helpful in any way. Only read if you want to read about multiple studies showing the same thing rather than actual tips on using that information.

Amazing

This book has changed/supported my view on functional health. It has changed how I will look at food forever. Definitely a good book to read if at all interested in gut health!

Repetitive

This book is dense. Very detailed information on diet and gut health. Understood more about myself and how stress could be directly effecting my digestion issues. While I would recommend, the later half of the book needs to be looked at with a critical eye. Less scientific background was given and I just didn't care for that.
