So, I’m not sure I have much to say about the conclusion to this book. I feel so ambivalent about this story. There were parts of it I enjoyed and parts of it I hated and some of it didn’t sit well with me in regards to the reality of it. The writing, however, still captivates me and I breezed through this ending.

Remembering Everly is the second book in the Lost & Found series by J.L. Berg. This is the continuation of August and Everly's story and cannot be read without having read Forgetting August first. If you haven't read that book yet, you will need to start there and should beware of possible spoilers in this review.

After waking up from a two year coma, August is left with little to no memories of his past. As he tries to piece together his memories, the one thing he knows is that Everly is the love of his life. But something happened in their past that has changed Everly from loving him the same way to him being the man that she hates. Not only does Everly want nothing more than to move on, but she has found the man to help her do that in her fiance Ryan. But August is determined to not only win Everly back, but to be the man that she once loved before everything went wrong. However his past has other plans for him, and it could ruin his chances with Everly once and for all.

I had really liked both August and Everly in the first book, and unfortunately I lost a bit of that here. August and Everly still had something between them that nothing could take away from them, but I felt like we really weren't able to connect to them as we could in the first book due to some of their actions here. I didn't like the fact that these two spent so much time apart and that Ryan and Magnolia seemed to be used as plot devices here. It just didn't feel genuine to me, especially where Magnolia was concerned.

I also had a really tough time getting through this book. It was slow and boring for much of the book and I lost interest early on. I just struggled to get into the story here when I had been so excited after that cliffhanger in Forgetting August. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next, and unfortunately a lot of nothing happened here and what did was predictable. I really felt like we got lost in the bland and mundane details of these two going through the motions and this book just felt like all filler. I would gladly have had one solid book that was a bit longer than to see what happened here. There were some things that were resolved far too easily to be realistic, while other things would drag and take forever with the amount of back and forth. Overall, this one just wasn't for me. I have absolutely loved J.L. Berg's in the past and I know this won't be the last I read from her. Unfortunately this one just fell flat after all the promise from Forgetting August and I was disappointed with Remembering Everly.

Given how FORGETTING AUGUST ended, I wasn't sure how JL Berg was going to end this duet.  I have to say, she did a great job of turning around these characters and finding their HEA.

Everly and August have a lot to sort through.  Everly is trying to move forward with her wedding and hoping that August can forgive her, somehow.  August is trying to protect Everly and hoping she can forgive him and move forward.  But the biggest problem with either of them moving forward or getting someone to forgive them is by communicating and being honest with each other.  This is a concept that neither of these characters seems to be able to grasp.

August's issues all started because he had this innate need to protect Everly.  From himself.  From the things he'd done.  And ultimately his boss Trent.  But if he had trusted Everly enough to tell her the truth, none of what they went through might have happened.  He put himself and Everly through so much under the guise of protecting her.  He almost falls into the same trap again, but the new August learns from his mistakes and is surprised at the help he can get when he uses his words.

Everly was her own hot mess.  In love with August, engaged to Ryan, she didn't know what she should do.  She relied on others to point her in a certain direction, rather than relying on herself.  And that was Everly's obstacle to overcome.  Once she realized she was strong enough to stand on her own, she became a force to reckon with.

In the end, August and Everly got their HEA.  It was a HEA that I think, in the end, was much more gratifying than anything they would have had before.  They earned what they had, together, knowing the other was there to support them.  They didn't need money, just each other and their friends to make it.

Another great read by JL Berg.  If you haven't picked up one of her books yet, this duet is definitely one to jump into.

n the first book, we came to know and love August and Everly’s story of second-chance love. They were torn apart by circumstance and bad choices, and reunited two years later when August awakens from his coma. I absolutely loved the tone and drama set into FORGETTING AUGUST, and the sizzling romantic tension between the torn-apart lovers was equally delicious. In REMEMBERING EVERLY, we get their (long-awaited) conclusion.

After the way that the first book ended, I was absolutely jumping at the bit for the rest of their story. JL Berg writes so beautifully, and she has a way of lyrically keeping your attention. Their storyline was so unique and like one of those car crashes you can’t help but stare at, and it hooked me from the beginning. We enter a bit after book one ended, and we begin to view the separate, and torn-apart lives of the characters. A good portion of this book features a lot of introspection and inner-character conflict that comes with life-changing events such as what happened in the first book. It prepares quite a bit in this first half into making the last half what it is. We get to see how book one really affected each character, and their musings into figuring out what they really want by delving into how they plan to go about achieving their end game.

While I loved the outcome, and thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Berg’s writing (as always), I felt that the first half of the book could have been shortened or cut out altogether. The want to find out their ending really kept me going in the story, and I feel like without that drive some readers may not keep reading. Which is a shame because book one was amazing, and where book two eventually takes us does give us that complete feeling we’re ultimately after. I enjoyed their full journey, with the twisty, sometimes dark path we took on August and Everly’s train, and think that any reader will absolutely fall in love with their tale. If the first part were condensed, I think Ms. Berg would have hit it out of the park completely. Overall, I really do recommend this series as it’s unique and written so well.

I was looking forward to reading this after the cliffhanger in Forgetting August. I have to say it was nothing like I thought. I did think it was the perfect conclusion to Everly and August's story. The epilogue had to be my favorite part. I could read and re-read all day.

I encountered the same problem while reading this that I had in Forgetting August. It didn't hold my attention multiple times so I had to skim some. I wish I got to see more of August and Everly together. When they had scenes together I could really feel their love. Speaking of love, I fell even more in love with Tabitha, Brick, and Sarah. They were great supporting characters. I would've liked to have seen more of Ryan, but I understood why I didn't. There was a scene between him and August that I thought was fantastic. Towards the end will really keep you on the edge of your seat with the suspense. I know I was!

The conclusion to August Kinkaid and Everly Adams's story was one that had my blood boiling. They were in situations that they had put themselves in. Needless to say it was hard to get out of them and it was affecting their life. They were both torn and conflicted and there were times I had no solutions that I could come up with on how it will get better because something and/or someone was always one step ahead of them. They had to think outside the box and secretly among themselves and had to learn to trust/rely on each other.

I would love him for everything he was, everything he wasn't, and everything we could be together.

The connection between August and Everly is still going strong but of course they could not move on until they had to face their demons. I am so glad that I gave this series another chance because it opened your eyes on what is important in life and makes you think on the path you would want to take to get there without losing yourself in the process.

This is a review for book 2 in the Lost and Found series, you should read book 1 prior to reading book 2 or reading the reviews below.
ARC provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

August remembers everything after the coma, or so he says, and he's pushed Everly away, unable to forgive her for what she did to him. Everly is trying to let life return to normal, but she can't forget the love she had for August, it outweighs the bad. When August's past threatens to catch up to him, he has to make a decision when it is Everly's life on the line.

Book 1 ended on such a massive cliffhanger I thought I would never get over the book hangover that followed. Everly and August allowed their past to get in between them, ruining the second chance they had after August awoke from his coma. Just like before, I loved August and Everly, they're such unique characters, even when Everly is being weak, and their love is the kind that can move mountains. Though Remembering Everly doesn't have as much angst as Forgetting August, it takes the reader down the path of each character's life after they separated again and it is incredibly hard to read and think they are doing the right thing. As a reader, I knew the characters weren't meant to be living separated and finally J.L. Berg gave me what I wanted. Though it came with twists, secrets, and some fear, finally these two are together. I really loved August's memories coming back to him, the good and the bad, and finally learning about what had happened between them that we never fully understood.

Unfortunately, Remember Everly doesn't feel like an independent novel, it just feels like missing chapters from Forgetting August. It is the story of August and Everly coming back together and finally facing their past in hopes of a happy ending, but there isn't much more to it. It feels like a long novel, because we see August and Everly living separately, making decisions I hated, but understood. I loved reading everything finally tie together and make sense, but it didn't feel like a unique story.

Forgetting August was one of my favorite reads in 2015, I fell in love with the characters and the story line. The writing was superb and is just as good in Remembering Everly. I went into this book with so many questions and the feelings I was left with from book 1 never wavered; I was really pleased with how J.L. Berg closed up this duet. If you are interested in Forgetting August and Remembering Everly I definitely suggest you pick up both books, because you won't be able to stop reading after book 1 and trust me, the torture of not knowing is hard after that cliffhanger! I really loved the Lost & Found series and highly recommend it, along with any other J.L. Berg novel.
