I was very close to not reading this book. I love Karigan and the Green Rider series, but I hated Mirror Sight with extreme prejudice. I feel that book could have been a short novella or even just referenced as it was in Firebrand.

Firebrand is much better than Mirror Sight. It's just wayyyyy too long. The plot and romance seems to drop at some points, and it becomes tedious. I do want to see how some of the plot gets resolved in another book.

Another 5 yrs from now??

What a way to end things... so many loose ends and people that I can't wait to hear more about! Anna, Enver (very, very curious to see wth happens with his character) and of course Karigan! I'm still not feeling the whole bit with Zachary though... I just never really have cared about him, he's always stayed a bit 2-D to me, maybe book 7 will change my mind.

I have so many million feelings about this book I feel like it's impossible hold them entirely still, and that's why when I finally got to talk to a friend about it after finished the last pages a few weeks ago, we ended up talking about the book, series, direction, choices for almost two hours straight after a party had cleared from her house.

I love the direction this book is headed, and I love that a lot of it feels like it's all natural progression. Revelations about the far past, and about the current goings on everywhere. I love the romances, and how they are noble, tangled in duty, family, character growth, gain, and loss, well fitting to all the positions all the people are in. I love the new sides of the Elt and magical creatures we got.

I feel like there are so many things I want to say and too many of them are spoilers that were just *So Well Done* in the book. I can't stop recommending this series more and more, especially the further on in it gets and how beautiful this woman's writing continues to grow.

Ahh I loved being immersed in the Green Rider world once again.
Karigan has been irrevocably changed since her time in the future, but she is on an important mission to find the P'hedrose, a legendary moose/man race.
Zachary has a very interesting story arc in this book (I guess why it is called Firebrand).
Kristan Britain is an amazing writer, she has become an auto-buy author for me.
Now the long wait begins for Green Rider #7

This has managed to (somewhat) redeem the absolute shit show that the last book was. A solid 4, maybe even a 4.5.

Highlights include: Fastion (for simply existing); the cats; Zachary and Karigan kissing even though it has taken 6 books for us to get here; and that psychopathic old lady finally being impaled by a fucking icicle monster.

4.5 stars!

This was such a wonderful return to Sacoridia after Mirror Sight. While my heart aches for Karigan and all she endured, each trial just shapes her and makes her stronger. I can't wait to see what will happen in Winterlight.

I liked that while the story focused mainly on Second Empire, we still got tie-ins from mirror sight and I can see how that book had a purpose in the overall plot. I also enjoyed getting more Zachary chapters and seeing him in different situations other than a king in a castle.

I took a half star off because even though Zachary and Karigan love each other, he is married and I didn't like that they cheated, both emotionally and with a kiss. I'm just not a fan of that dynamic, even though a part of me does feel bad for them.
