Even though this book was better than the last one, the first half was slow and kind of boring. However, the ending (which I was not spoiled of, mainly because I don’t read the Super Editions in order) got me hooked and made everything worth it. Tree was super interesting and one of the things that redeemed this book for me. He was unique and fun, at first seemed lazy and undedicated, but during the book he showed that he actually cared and had great skills. Also, Briarlight’s death scene was heartbreaking and I loved Jayfeather’s character development, despite many books have passed since he was a main character.

This wasn’t the best book in AVoS, but not the worst either. It was worth the time, even if it wasn’t fantastic.

Spoilers:So this book was pretty standard like it wasn’t as big on action as the other ones but I still really enjoyed it.

I really liked Velvet, whenever there’s a kitty pet in warriors there always told to be stupid, soft and childish. But Velvet is a nice kind cat with a head and her toy was super cute.
I also enjoyed Riverclan being set on fire it’s nice to get to see them more and they’ve finally opened their borders again.
Briarlight’s death was devastating and Jayfeathers and Millies reaction just made it even more sad.
Now I’ve came to adore Rowanclaw and I don’t blame him that much for Darktail. So it really annoyed me when Blackstar and Needletail were blaming him. Like come on! Needletail was the one who wanted Darktail and lead him into the camp just because u wanted the other clans to fear you. And Blackstar your one to talk, the cat who supported both Brockenstar and Tigerstar. To only then let Sol have control of your clan and nearly destroy it. Guys you all need to get it into your head that Shadowclan has never had a good leader.
Also Sleekwhisker’s return should have been longer but it was still good.

A few problems with this volume, and the series, as a whole:

Bramblestar thinks strays can't join Clans under any conditions, even though he brought strays/kittypets into the Clan in Bramblestar's Storm, and it's kinda Thunderclan's thing.

Jayfeather somehow doesn't care about Starclan prophecies. He was at the center of one a few arcs ago!!

Medicine cats just casually committed the taboo of sharing their visions while at the moonpool, before even telling their leader or mulling it over.

Bramblestar just put Leafstar on the spot at a Gathering, over a prophecy no one is even sure about.

Tigerheart gets promoted to Clan leader after he runs away with Dovewing and has kits with her. Other cats have ascended to leader or medicine cat roles despite inter-Clan romances, but they sacrificed everything for their duty because it's prohibited by the Warrior code. Meanwhile stupid Tigerheart gets to have his cake and eat it, too!

Once I'm done with the Vision of Shadows arc and a novella collection, I'm done with the Warriora franchise. I'll reread my favorites someday, but nothing new.

As always , this was a pleasant read and a good distraction for what is going on in the world right now . However I did find the book a little flat as the story was very convoluted and didn't really have much of a focus. But I am excited to read the next book .

I’ve read River of Fire like two months ago and I already barely remember anything about its plot. I rated it 3.5 stars and maybe that’s a bit generous when thinking about it, but 3 stars seems a bit too low.

Like in the other novels of this arc, there’s drama in all of the Clans. Besides this, nothing really happens here. The protagonists are wondering what the prophecy could mean, while Bramblestar is consequently ignoring it – yeah, he’s not a good leader. The protagonists have some development here though and
Twigbranch is finally a warrior

For the Clan drama, RiverClan finally returns in River of Fire and becomes relevant again; I was starting to get annoyed that they’re not there anymore at all. WindClan with its new leader is now the only Clan that acts reasonable – never guessed I would say that one day. SkyClan and ShadowClan are still in a conflict, and I wished that we got Tawnypelt as the next leader of ShadowClan,
but sadly, this doesn’t happen and Tigerheart becomes the new ShadowClan leader instead. It’s so sad that Dovewing goes with him, I’ll miss her in ThunderClan
. I’m not a big fan of SkyClan currently and especially of Leafstar with her selfish behaviour.

My biggest issue is that now the romance takes up more space which just annoyed me. There was a short, strange insta love episode between
Velvet and Alderheart. Velvet herself was cute though how she brought her favorite toy to the Clans. We also get Twigpaw x Finpaw and Violetshine x Tree and I’m not a fan of all of those. But I think that I like Tree a bit; thanks to him, a new mediator position is created in SkyClan

Just as a sidenote, there was already a mistake on the first page of this novel: Finpaw is described as having a tail, even though he lost it which was even an important plot point in Darkest Night. It’s nothing new in the Warriors series but I’m still annoyed by those inconsistencies in the narrative.

River of Fire was not bad and better than many other Warriors books, but I’m not sure where A Vision of Shadows wants to go after it. I start to get the feeling that the plot is going in circles at this point.
