Spoiler alert: The bad news, Agatha finally marries that prickly, cold slab of judgmentalness - James. The good news, by the end of the book - they're divorced. Hopefully we're done watching her moon of him. I love Agatha's friendship (sometimes with benefits - wink) with Charles. He's always the guy who's up for some fun, with an eye for the ladies, and a complete cheapskate - he reminds me of one of my ex-boyfriends! Much more fun as a friend, than a boyfriend.

4.5 stars! Agatha is back in Carsley with Charles, and this is when Agatha is at her best.

I'm shocked how many reviewers complain about not liking Agatha when reviewing books 10 and 11 of this series, as if they couldn't have stopped reading after book 1. Or book 3. Or book 9. Agatha is absolutely deeply flawed, but she is also very *human*. I adore how she agrees to do things and then regrets that decision. I appreciate how she frequently just says things that need to be said. I empathize with the way her insecurities so frequently trigger her errors.

Audiobook narrator Penelope Keith gets 5 stars.

After scheming and plotting Agatha Raisin is finally married to the man of her dreams, but she quickly realizes that marriage to James is not quite the paradise she imagined that it would be. After a very public fight, James disappears and it's up to Agatha to discover what has happened. Another madcap Agatha Raisin adventure.

Holy sh*t can we get another description of Agatha’s eyes besides “bear-like?” I feel like I’m reading the same book over and over.

Review - I thought that this one was better because it engaged more with Agatha's deeper emotions. In other books she just chases men, but in this one we see her truly vulnerable. I also liked how we saw more of Charles's emotions, and he provided some comic relief. One of the better Agatha Raisin books. The storyline with the missing James could have been better explored - James seemed to be very much in the background, but nevertheless an important part of the story.
