I came to this series already knowing and well-invested in Jason and the promise that he is well-written here, but Roy and Kori I only had vague memories of the Teen Titans cartoon and fresher memories of half a season of Young Justice (I really should finish that) to build my expectations upon.

So Kori: The costume is obviously terrible and I'm not sure about this living in the present to the point of forgetfulness trait, but I generally liked the "I'm a princess, f**k off!" attitude, her most cherished memory, her meeting with Jason, the way Rocafort draws her hair and Blond colored it. I'm eager to know more about her past.
Roy: Well, this is a very different characterization than in YJ. Hard to get used to him being the chatterbox, but I like him. I guess I will see if that changes after reading pre-52 issues with him. I keep feeling like he should act older.
Jason: Thank fucking Lobdell for keeping the complexity of his character and making it clear that the only judgement that matters about his actions is Jason's own. Him leaving behind that memory about broke my heart. The All Caste background story I ended up liking more than I expected. Certainly different take on Lost Days. I am though had it up here with several millenia/ages/centuries old secret societies/monks/species who were always there and no one knew about them or ever mentioned them but writers try retroactively make their existence grounded in established canon (I am looking at you Court of Owls). I am just so goddamn bored with this type of plot. So while I did like it, my reading experience was filled with "Oh god not this again".

I want to sing the praises of the art. It's so goddamn pretty. Literally the only problems I have are with Kori's costumes and Jason's helmet.

Yes, the sexism bothers me. It's not how much sex Starfire has or what she wears. I support women enjoying as much sex as they want with whomever they want while wearing whatever they want (though protection is kind of important, I understand why it isn't always depicted in fiction). It's the poses and the purpose. She is there for people who drool over women to drool over. In those poses she is not a person, she is not a character, she is a sex doll. A stewardess is similarly posed.

However, Starfire is also respected by her male partners as a strong, capable, powerful being and I am of the opinion that the objectification gets toned down as the book progresses, improving things greatly.

Aside from that, I enjoyed this a lot. I liked how Jason was characterized (I haven't read anything other than the prequel to "Under the Red Hood," which film I saw, but I've heard that in between the film and this series he acted like a douche. Not here, thankfully), I liked the interactions between characters, the art is fantastic, and it was just a great read.

I wish there was a guide as to which books I should read to get some more backstory, cause it's a little tricky for the newbies like me, but I was able to follow along and figure things out.

To sum up, the sexism is pretty atrocious, but it gets better and I think the good points outweigh the bad.

I personally liked the comic... though it was not as good as Under the Red Hood it wasn't totally disappointing (I love Red Hood). Personally, I am rooting for Red Hood to let go of some of his rage towards Bruce, though I am not totally aware of why he hates Richard Grayson so much...

The plot was okay, I liked that it sets up Jason's arc well. I am not familiar with either the characterization of Roy or Kori, but Roy was alright. I was a bit put off by Starfire at times but then again I've never read any previous comic books featuring either of them (except Roy from Young Justice).

I like the art, but this felt too colorful, too light hearted for a Red Hood comic. I also didn't enjoy the side characters. Not a series I will continue, I will try the Rebirth one instead!

Dysfunctional heroes team up for the hell of it. Don't know which one is more screwed up,but it makes an interesting story.
