A slow burn sort of thriller. Dark and twisty. This book gives one the heebeejes, but not in the jump scare kind of way that one is used to. All of the characters are flawed, and Flynn does a great job of blurring the lines between victim and perpetrator. I liked no one in this book, including the murdered children, so kudos to the author for making me hate dead kids. I kinda sorta figured out the ending, but was still impressed by the final twist. Happy I read it, but now I feel like I need to bathe in rubbing alcohol to get rid of these gross feelings.

Currently gushing over Gillian Flynn's writing. The book kept me on the edge of my seat & made my stomach churn the whole time.

This is a good enough read for such a short book. I'm not going to lie the first half was kind of sluggish and I found myself bored at times. I felt that Camille's "problems" toward her mom and the town she grew up in, were just exaggerated. Living in NYC I guess I couldn't understand the stresses of living in a small town. Although I could guess what the outcome was going to be I really enjoyed the ending.

filled with so many disturbingly fucked up, 8000-piece-jigsaw-puzzle kind of complex female characters that were all so so soo interesting

this is the best thriller i’ve read under 300 pages

Check trigger warnings for this. The premise is intriguing and it’s easy to get acquainted with the plot and its characters, but I personally didn’t enjoy reading about the over specialization of children. I don’t know if because of my feelings that makes this a good book since it can invoke high emotion for me but I’m okay with never thinking about this book again lol. I also was never shocked or felt the twists were clever. Last, Camille is insufferable and is a Mary Sue in the worst way?? It’s a no from me
