Great short story! Not overly thrilling, but a good twist at the end. Good writing and story development!

This short story is part of Amazon's Obsession collection.
Upon discovering that this was penned by Julia Clark, an author whose work I usually relish, I couldn't resist diving into this one. However, in hindsight, I should have done my research beforehand. Regrettably, this book didn't suit my taste.
The reasons 1 didn't connect with the story are twofold: firstly, I couldn't relate to or like the characters, and the plot felt overly predictable. Secondly, the book leaned heavily into political agendas, which hindered my ability to fully engage with the otherwise intriguing synopsis.⭐️⭐️⭐️

Should others know about your obsessions?

Hillary was seperated from her baby and she has lately felt regrets, as couldn't conceive again, even though at the time when she gave birth she was too young to be a mother. When an opportunity to find her daughter through DNA ancestry arises, she jumps at the opportunity - but was her obsession over her lost daughter a bit too public by that time?

This was a smooth read and you could strongly connect to the driving emotions of Hillary, as a mother. In my opinion, this story was well conceptualised, it covers an important and emotionally difficult topic, and has a great ending.

The ideal target audience for this book would be mostly women, whether mothers or not yet.

I an rating this short story 4/5 stars just because it's not my favorite genre, but I haven't seen major flaws in it. I find this to be the best story in the Obsession collection so far.

I've never read anything from Julie Clark before but this was a solid short. I'm not sure if I was intrigued enough to read more from her in the future.
