Maneater - Daryl Hall & John Oates
High For This - The Weeknd

Taylor Montclair - alchemist, dating Sacha Winters (L'hiver)
Sacha Winters - has a power to heal instatly, dating Taylor Montclair
Louisa - girl that doesn't have Sacha's power but somehow can't die and is fucking pissing me off :) , she is dating Alastair
Alastair - old Oxford student
Mortimer - former teacher at Oxford, is actually connected to a demon and is trying to kill Sacha
Jones - dean at Oxford

Book was amazing, nothing less expected from Daugherty, but the fact that Louisa can't die even though she broke her neck, is almost 100% dead but can't die and is annoying me really hard. I was trying so hard not to hate her every time she said something... It is said that Taylor and sacha will go to Paris first, then Taylor will go to Spain with Georgie ( her best friend ), after that she will be back on campus. I just need to know what happens to Sacha and to their relationship, like I need answers and I need them now!!!

Ok. Brzo se čita, zanimljiva radnja i priča koja drži pažnju do poslednje stranice.
Nadam se da ima nastavak.

After the dramatic end in The Secret Fire, I stalked NetGalley for this book. I had to know what on earth was going to happen now, and how would Taylor and Sacha ever stand a chance of defeating the darkness.

The Secret City is a book that follows on from it's predecessor amazingly. It packs its own punch and certainly keeps this plot alive. We start The Secret City with Sacha and Taylor at St Wilfred's college learning how to use their powers, and researching every book they can get hold of. With Taylor in training learning to control her power and Sacha doing the research it's hard for this duo to actually use each other and practice as a team, the alchemists wanting Taylor to learn how strong she really is without the help of Sacha.
But the appearance of Mortimer Pierce and his demonic power put a hold on things, as they all realise they have very little time left for research and study, they must face this battle head on as soon as possible.

The Secret City is a book that draws you back into this world with Sacha and Taylor, and takes you on a crazy, dangerous adventure with them. It somehow keeps you on your toes and wondering what will happen next, but also gives you enough detail to keep you wanting more, to find out how this will all end. I'll be honest, there were moments that I really thought that was the end, that there was no more fight left to give and darkness would prevail. The journey with Sacha and Taylor is not an easy one, and with several twists and turns along the way it's not even a definite outcome, it all hangs on possibilities and chance.

The Secret City was a book that pulled me back into this world, and was one I was very reluctant to leave when I reached the final word. I love the characters within the pages and actually found myself changing my opinions of a few of them.

Final Verdict
The Secret City was a book that I really enjoyed. I loved all aspects about this book, the characters, the world, and the alchemy surrounding it all. This is a must read book.

Thanks to Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for giving me this book to review.

The Secret City is an enjoyable paranormal sequel to The Secret Fire which is fast paced. There more romance in this book and more action but I never felt worried about whether Sacha and Taylor would survive. One touch in this book I liked was the use of different symbols at the start of each chapter to show whose POV it is, out of Taylor, Sacha and Louisa.

Taylor is struggling to learn control of her powers but is more confident than she was in the last book; however, I still found that she was just too perfect. Sacha feels useless and is unsure how he can be helpful in stopping his curse, which he is growing more fearful about as it draws closer. I like how sweet the romance between Sacha and Taylor is and how they would do anything to keep each other safe. We get to learn more about Louisa and her past in this book which I liked.

I found the ending anticlimactic and I cannot tell if this book is the end of the series. I would recommend The Secret City to fans of the first book The Secret Fire.

The only thing I didn't like about this book was that it was only two books in the series

I don't regret reading this book- in like a 'that was a waste of my time way'; it was entertaining enough, but I have to say it was forgettable as I was reading it. I felt like much more happened in the first book, and
the introduction of Alistair as a love interest for Louisa I felt took away from the romance between Sacha and Taylor.
For a whole book of not doing much, the ending was very rushed and confusing, and lacked emotional pay off imo. Just v sort of... Meh
