WOW WOW WOW. I've read a lot of books with a similar plot (unhinged man falls for normal woman but she's also actually just as unhinged) but I don't think I've read anything like this one! It is such a mind fuck and I want to devour the second one IMMEDIATELY. This doesn't get spicy until like 90% but it is SO GOOD.

Listen, okay? I understand where everyone is coming from in their reviews of this book, but like... It's dark romance. That comes with obvious triggers and very gray-mostly "evil" characters. And honestly, this is not the worst or darkest one I've read.

I was absolutely fascinated with the therapy sessions and being in both London's and Grayson's heads. The author understood her characters, and they both felt pretty unique. The sexual tension was insidious and I was all for it. This Harley Quinn-Joker-esque fic was definitely scrumptious.

The courtroom scenes were dramatic, ridiculous, and unrealistic, especially the first one at the beginning.
The last 20% I definitely didn't like. It was too fast, and London changed her mind too quickly. Also, like, the amount of money and time Grayson would need to set all this shit up is astronomical, and he definitely wouldn't have been able to do it all himself or in anonymity. Let's get that straight lol it was comical how dramatic, absurd, and unrealistic his "traps" were. It seemed he was omniscient too and never wrong and that's not fun.
Also, the final sex scene was a little ridiculous. London gave in too easily.

So, a 3.5 star for the beginning 80% that I could see myself rereading and then forgetting about the ending.

Not the best dark romance, but the psychiatrist-serial killer angle is for sure a guilty pleasure.

Happy reading, Goodreads fiends.

PLEASE CHECK TW!!

this book has me in a chokehold. i was giggling, blushing, kicking my feet in the air, and questioning my brain cells and sanity. i really love the writing, it’s so easy to read. i’m so eager to read the next book (meaning i can’t wait to meet grayson sullivan again)

the writing stood out to me because of how much i liked it. it wasn’t overly descriptive to where it loses my mind’s interest and yet didn’t lack in details either. the way the senses were introduced was satisfying and i wanted to appreciate that.

the plot starts out slow and you delve into london noble’s work as a psychiatrist. the details of the mental health conditions and human psyche was pretty interesting to read about though im not sure how accurately they were depicted. the plot’s build up is there but i’m not sure if it was worth it. i feel like the delivery was lacking in impact especially at the groundbreaking revelations.

i have to say though grayson’s character is fun to read about especially with how he plans shit to a tee and how it all falls into place.

overall, its enjoyable(ish) and i appreciated the details and thought the author put into it.

Slow to start, yet very suspenseful. Overall, I wasn't sold on this "pairing"
