I expected this to be a self help book, but it was really more of an anti-self help book. I guess you could call it a memoir, but it was really a listing of all the fad diets she went on and spent way too long talking about. Maybe it would have been worth my time if there was some sort of grand realization in the end, but it really just kind of ended with "figure out what's best for you and do it."
I also didn't appreciate her referring to Catholicism as a cult. She went into great detail at the beginning of the book with her definition of a cult (so that she could compare all her diets to that) and Catholicism didn't even meet her definition, so I'm not sure why she threw that accusation out there.
I do plan to read "The F*ck it Diet" book. Maybe that will actually offer some insights.

Really not what I was expecting. Based on the topic and how much I enjoyed the author’s previous book, I believed I would love this. I did not. It was about 80% memoir and the last 20% was not anything groundbreaking.

It was funny and well written, but the book was more a memoir about her being exhausted due to endured trauma- mostly at her toxic relationship with food. If this was marketed less about burn-out and more about a sequel to her other book I would have been ok with that.
There's also a weird joke about demisexuality that felt unnecessary.
This book wasn't for me. It wasn't what I thought it would be. I blame the title and the marketing.

3.5 stars! I thought it was hilarious and brought up so many points that resonated Im with me. It did become a bit repetitive and could have been cut down a bit.
