I liked Dooner's first book -- The Fuck It Diet -- much better as a self-help book. I expected a similar style in this one, and although her voice and tone was similar, the style was more memoir / personal journal. It wasn't especially relatable in many parts; I appreciated that she acknowledged her privileges so often but personally found myself checking out at times. Other times, I really related and loved the points she was making. Overall, I was glad to save a couple of the chapters as standalone "essays," and I enjoy Dooner's thinking about extremism and cult-suspectibility. If you don't enjoy a "read my journal, here's my life rollercoaster" type read, though, this one isn't for you.

I was not familiar with the author prior to reading this book, but the title grabbed me - who ISN’T tired AF after the past 18 months?! Dooner skillfully weaves her experiences with social commentary regarding diet and self-help culture and the ill after effects that can occur when you push too hard and burn out. The book is structured in short chapters that feel like you’re catching up with a friend or listening to a story over dinner. I really related to much of the material and enjoyed this book,
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for an ARC of this title.

Super mixed feelings about this one. I liked it in the beginning, but it dragged throughout the middle and I really had to force myself to finish it. There were some relatable insights in here, but a lot of it was also very repetitive. The author makes an attempt to acknowledge her privilege, but I feel like a lot of her advice is not really accessible to the majority of the population. I feel like this should’ve just been written entirely as a memoir instead of trying to also blend with self-help. The constant italicized words also drove me INSANE. When you’re emphasizing a word in literally every sentence, kinda takes away from the point of emphasizing in the first place. Oh and I made the mistake of looking up the author on Instagram…big yikes.
