The sequel to the Henna Artist was pretty good. I enjoyed getting to know more people in this world. I also really liked reading a historical fiction about that is not based in the West.
I did miss Kanta, but was happy to see the return of Malik. As a young adult, his growth at the end of the book was lovely. I wasn't really a fan of Nimmi, but I understand her feelings of insecurity.

Delightful sequel. Not quite as good as The Henna Artist, but I really enjoyed it. Loved the narrators.

I liked the first book in this series better, but this one was still good featuring some of the characters from the first book plus some new ones.

Jumps ahead 12 years from the end of the first book and I was not expecting the story to transition as well as it did. Again, somewhat predictable but again, lovely and vivid in it's language. I have started to pick up some of the common Hindi sayings at this point which I find endearing as they run through my head.

Easy to read. Enjoyable story arc. Love the Hindu cultural elements presented in food, language and relationships. This is a beautiful story and I love all the proverbs thrown in!

As someone who comes from an architecture background and works in construction now, the terms and particulars of the industry as part of the mystery were spot on. And let me tell you… this is DRAMA. Like this isn’t just morally bad because people died like this is nooooo joke even if no one was hurt. My pulse was QUICKENING as Malik discovered the truth. And as always Lakshmi has so much patience. I truly don’t know how she dealt with Radha in the first book and now Nimmi in the second book. I know that they were difficult because lack of worldly knowledge but damn did they come off as ungrateful and bratty. But anyways—

I am obsessed with Alka Joshi and her talent across her novels. She paints the most vivid and deep dilemmas and story plots with intricate details. Heading into the third (and final

I enjoyed this much more than the first book honestly.
