this was quite good actually, some parts of it felt a bit dragged out, the book definitely couldve either been shorter than it was, or they couldve added more action in it. but aside from that it was quite good and i enjoyed it. i was invested in the story and so curious about how it all was gonna end. definitely a good read. not fantastic or mind blowing but definitely good.

I have mixed feelings about this book. First off I loved Twilight (book 1) and The Host but all the other books I am ambivalent towards. I still will read any of Meyer's works because I love how she is still has moments where she enchants and/or surprises me. As far as this book, I applaud Meyer trying new genres and stretching her wings, but I was still left lacking.

The protagonist or "Chemist" was intriguing at first, a cold and scientifically focused medical assassin and torture interrogator. However, the male ultra forgiving and loving Bella-like Daniel Beach with the insta-love was hard to accept. Daniel was portrayed as too perfect and he was too unbelievable. The third protagonist was interesting and I liked the banter and dynamics between this character and the Chemist.

There are great action and several near-death moments. There is a government plot that does make for an interesting finale ending but everything seemed too predictable. There are plenty of twists but again all very predictable. What was very well done were the supporting characters (including dogs).

Overall: Glorified YA trying to reach into adult fiction. Average 3 stars rating.

I'm too disappointed in this book to read any further right now.- and that is very unlike me to not finish a book. I pushed through 55 pages to give it a chance but considering it's such a long book- I don't want to waste my time anymore. I feel disconnected from the main character and there is a lot of unnecessary information that is making the story drag. For example- the writer goes into descriptively long detail about this lethal outfit/jewelry she puts on only to have her change from it 10 minutes later to keep her enemies from guessing her disguise. What was the point of all that useless information? She wore it for like 5 seconds and I wasted my time reading about it. Not to mention - the main character has had human interaction with only 1 person for maybe 3 pages. What makes a character interesting is the interactions with other characters. I feel like I'm reading a one women show. She apparently knows everything and needs nobody. Who wants to read about a heroine that isn't vulnerable to something? I feel this book could have been good but fell short.

The writing style was smooth and it was easy to get in to the story but... it was just so-so. It felt like any old action movie. A lot of it was extremely predictable. My favorite characters were the dogs. Yep. That's all there is to say.

I thought that the book was really well written and that the plot line was fantastic. Was a little bit confused by the epilogue, but then I got it lol. Might read again sometime in the future :)

I always swore that I would never read something written by Stephanie Myer. Like I was prepared to go to the grave having never read one of her books, but I made a deal and this is how I ended up listening to it. I won't lie, I'm shocked. I liked it. Maybe it was the mystery and the danger, but I was all over this book. I did take a break right before everything went down and then forgot that I hadn't finished it. I won't lie, I was kinda surprised at how short the resolution was. Like we spent the entire book building up for a moment that was a couple of minutes long. It just seemed a little rushed to me is all.
