I feel the same for this book that I do for All for the Game. Except I hate this one. So. Fucking. Much. That being said I did read it in an hour and a half. I literally could not look away. It was like a car crash. It kept getting worse, but each time it did the desire to read it grew. Honestly, the two main characters deserve each other. They're both fucking shit shows. Logan managed to make Lani's struggle with addiction all about himself and their relationship, and Lani managed to crush this man's very soul(multiple times). At first I was team Lani(the entire premise is he cheated on her obviously I was on her side), but she turned out to be toxic too. Even before her addiction it was incredibly clear that she wasn't good for Logan, and the addiction only made it clear to the two of them. Logan had a right to be hurt by a lot of what Lani said, but he did NOT handle his anger well. Lani would blow up, and then Logan would blow up. Their relationship was just two incredibly toxic people creating an even more toxic relationship. Logan started off strong by bragging about how horrid his girlfriends are when it seems like he's the actual problem. He's desperate for love and throws people away for it, completely ignoring whatever they feel. Lani straight up bullied this man when they first met. It was well deserved, but still on the incredibly cruel side. This man is literally a fucking masochist. She was cold and withdrawn, and from the start neither of their wants and needs lined up in a way that made sense. Not to mention that Logan literally blamed her for his cheating. At that part of the book(about 70% of the way through), I knew I was done with their relationship. The fact that they end up together, even though their goals STILL don't match up by the end, is complete fucking bullshit. I probably would've given this book like 4 fucking stars if they didn't end together. The mcs spent an entire fucking book proving how disastrous their relationship is, and how harmful it is to the people around them, but they still end up together??? It makes absolutely no sense.

This was honestly the most realistic and relatable romance novel I’ve ever read. It follows Logan and Lani in their last year of college as they navigate their sometimes rocky relationship. The duel perspectives of this book offers a look into both characters thoughts and feelings throughout the story, giving the reader a well rounded view of the story. I felt like I was able to actually relate to their feelings and relationship struggles, it highlighted very real life issues. (Which made the book super relatable for me) I think it was the perfect mix of angst, romance, and spice. I thoroughly enjoyed this read from start to finish and will definitely be adding this to my top favs list!

Ah, where do I even start with this one... I hate to be harsh but unfortunately, there are just too many things that I did not enjoy with this one. This is probably the messiest breakup that I've ever read about.
A couple goes on a break. Well one party considers it to be a break, the other thinks of it as a break up. Although, is it even a break if they keep showing up in front of each other all the time and make no effort at all to "sort things out by themselves" as they were meant to?
The relationships displayed in this one are all extremely toxic and the characters are not likeable. This made it really difficult for me to care about any of them and their relationships. Perhaps if the book had started differently, showing you another side of the characters and their love, perhaps then I would've have cared more. Both characters are unfortunately very small-minded and selfish and it doesn't really make sense for them to be together, but hey at least if they are no one else will have to suffer.
I was a bit confused by the timeline in the beginning as well, although I did understand it better later on.
The book was unfortunately not even steamy enough to make up for everything.

The cover to this book is absolutely amazing first of all!! I absolutely love it and I want to buy the physical copy just for that reason haha!
This book follows two POV's: Leilani and Logan. Logan is a serial dater and has the reputation to go through girlfriend after girlfriend. Leilani is his next girlfriend whom is struggling with her mental health, battling social anxiety and a prescription medication addiction. Logan decides that enough is enough and decides to take a break on their relationship for one month, giving Leilani time to deal with her issues. However, Leilani wants to get revenge on Logan; but is revenge all it cracks up to be?
So. an alternate POV book is 100% my type of thing, which is something that I say all the time. I just love being able to get to know the characters and their backgrounds from their stance on things. Logan is your stereotypical 'player'. He moves from girl to girl, not even giving a second thought about how they are or what they're going through and I hated him from the start. Leilani is in many ways relatable? She has her flaws, just like we all do but I grew to really like her character.
Overall, I have a few issues with this book which I do not want to go in to at all. In some ways I am glad that books are aiming to raise awareness and give insight into mental illness' such as social anxiety and addiction but I also think that there are aspects of some stories that do more harm than good.
All in all, I did enjoy this book most of the time and I definitely would read another one of Skyler Masons' books. So, thank you so much NetGalley and Skyler Mason for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I don’t know if I loved this book because I’m coming off of a book rut and this book was the “something different” I was craving but it sucked me in from page one. I read it in one sitting despite being in such a bad funk that I’d picked up and put down three books before this, so it could not have come at a better time...
Let me start this off by saying, this book won’t be for everyone. This book realistically depicts the ugly side of some relationships and people. The characters are flawed. Leilani can be mean and vengeful. Logan is a serial dater and does some shitty things. So if you are only looking for rainbows and butterflies, this won’t be for you. With that said, let’s get to the review.
The same reason why I think a lot of people will hate these characters, is the same reasons why I loved them even while disliking them. These characters are REAL.
We’ve all had those moments in our lives where we said and did certain things we regretted, where we hurt someone we cared about, where we let the spite take over because we were hurting and wanted to hurt back, where we looked at the one we loved and for a brief moment hated them ...allowed distance to grow as we stopped communicating and being intimate, mourned the loss of the relationship while still together... or maybe that’s just me ;) but I appreciate the representation and depiction of that side of love/relationships none the less. And that’s not me trying to romanticize...just nice to see a different side.

Trigger warnings: Drug addiction
The awesome title and cover of this book were more than enough to spark interest in me to pick up this novel, and I was not disappointed. This is a very angsty and hateful romance book featuring two people with tons of baggage between them, while also tackling mental health issues such as anxiety and panic disorder.
I commend the author for putting her own personal experience with generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder into her character Leilani, because it gave the readers such better understanding and a clear view on how it happens to a person. I found myself empathizing with Lani, and putting myself into her shoes from the beginning because of how realistic and vulnerable she was with her condition - especially with all her ups and downs. Also kudos for the author in featuring the importance of therapy and support from friends and family during a mental health crises.
The romance game of this novel started really strong, and I was so into ditzy relationship-slut Logan and the reclusive yet highly opinionated Lani. They were just both polar opposites of one another that it was such a ride to see them figure each other out and slowly fall in love. I really enjoyed the banter between them. But my main problem with this book is how clueless and awful Logan was when Lani started to spiral down a dangerous road in her head. Sure it was explained in the latter pages why he did so and the problem he had with it, but the moment that particular scene happened, I was already frustrated and mad at him for not seeing the bigger issue, thinking all about himself, and running away immediately from it. I just really wanted to strangle him from that point onwards, and have lost all my sympathy for him then.
The story itself is very fast paced and easy to read and get into, and I didn't have a hard time adjusting to the alternating timelines that explained both how their relationship started and how their revenge plots happened. I only have a slight issue with how the last few chapters happened because it all felt rushed to me. But nevertheless, it wss still an enjoyable story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who really loves a very angsty romance.

Revenge Cake is Skylar Mason’s debut novel. This is a second chance, college romance that deals with mental health struggles, specifically anxiety, and prescription pill addiction.
Revenge Cake is told from dual POV and starts off with college seniors, Leilani and Logan, taking a break in their relationship. The book jumps back and forth from the start of their relationship to how they got to the point of taking a break. We see that Logan has always been in a relationship, jumping from one girl to the next within minutes. Leilani has battled anxiety and panic disorders for most of her life, that combined with her lack of social communication skills puts people off of her. Logan became frustrated with Leilani’s Ativan addiction and asked for a break.
These characters were raw and real. Their issues, thoughts, and personalities were conveyed well and there was great character development. What started off as a way for Leilani to get revenge on Logan for asking for a break from their relationship turned into a way for these characters to grow, work on their issues, and move forward as individuals before they came back together as a couple. Although this book was slow in some places I thoroughly enjoyed it!

“I’m not a fuckboy. I’m the opposite of a fuckboy. I’m a relationship-boy.”
Logan Henderson is what his friends would describe as a “relationship sociopath.” As soon as he ends one relationship, he’s onto the next one. When his best friend, Armaan, drags him to hangout with Brenna and her roommates after a recent breakup, Logan swears that he is off dating for a while and claims that his ex was “fucking crazy.” However, that all changes when he meets Leilani Girarid, Brenna’s best friend and roommate. Lani is outspoken, straight to the point, and socially awkward - which Logan is not used to. During their first interaction, Lani calls him weak. He finds himself instantly intrigued by her and decides that she has to be his next girlfriend.
Lani, on the other hand, could not be bothered with Logan. She knows about all of his relationships, and has no desire to be one of his “crazy fucking ex’s.” However, as she spends more time getting to know him, she starts to fall for him. The thought terrifies her, which doesn’t help her severe anxiety. When they finally get together, she casts doubt on the relationship until she’s finally proven right and Logan breaks her heart. Now, she has to decide if she wants Logan back in her life. Can they get back to the place they once were?
“You’re an incredibly poor judge of what’s right for you.”
I really don’t know where to start with this review because I have so many mixed feelings about this book. I want to start off by saying that this book may be very triggering for some people because there is a heavy focus on mental illness, specifically anxiety. After just a few pages, there was a part of me that wanted to reach into the screen (it’s a digital copy), shake Logan, and yell at him for how he was treating Lani. On the other hand, I wanted to sit him down and have a serious conversation with him about his serial dating, because it’s clearly unhealthy. As someone who has anxiety, I found myself able to relate to Lani’s feelings of doubt and the need to push people away before they hurt you - which was heartbreaking to read. However, I feel that Lani and Logan’s relationship issues went deeper than just her anxiety. In fact, none of the relationships in the book were what I’d consider to be “healthy.”
Something that I liked about this story was that it was told from both Lani and Logan’s POVs, and went back and forth from the past to the present. As the reader, I felt that I was able to understand both sides of their story and watch their entire relationship unfold. Overall, it was an okay but quick read. The story was filled with many steamy moments between a couple who truly loves each other, but are constantly having to battle each other. If they have any hope of being together they both have to work on their issues.
“Words like that are empty coming from a boy who’s in love with being in love”
