Okay so I wanted to love this book. Why choose/omegaverse novel. It has all the things I love. The book opened well and pulled me in. Up until we got to about the 50% mark. This is where it started to drag. It was awful. The romance was dull. There wasn’t any banter. It was all “it’s okay, you are so amazing.” Just back and forth from character to character. It was really boring tbh.
The book should have been cut a lot shorter, 100 pages less. The story just got lost in random enemies, training montage, bad villianry. I found myself skimming and I didn’t lose anything from it.
The spice, the one thing you look forward to in books like this was so awkward and cringe. The author used the word womb way too many times in the sex scenes. Oh and the being so large she could see it and feel it from inside her belly? Not possible. The postions. I actually made my husband stand up and help me try to figure out a position the author was describing because I was like girl there ain’t no way (much hilarity ensued 😂.) We figured it out but nah dawg.
So TLDR: Beginning was great, sex cringe, draggie draggie drag drag, villians being villainous, long end, with weird cliffy.

Thank you to Enola M Douglas for sending me an ARC of the first book in the Jewels of the Nine Kingdoms series. I was hooked from the start with this book. I loved that the FMC was quietly strong. She doesn’t want a life of servitude and submission that is so commonly expected of an Omega. She fights for the life she wants and finds those who will embrace her. Both of the MMCs in this book are strong and treat her well. Kaelen and Alarik balance each other well and also treat each other with respect. I loved the detail given about everything leading up to Reyeia’s time in Asadia. I wanted a little bit more regarding the conflict at the end. It felt like it happened quickly. I definitely enjoyed this and look foward to reading book 2.

Whisked Away was an adventurous romantasy. I enjoyed the character growth of the FMC and her role as an Omega, but also as someone willing to learn and survive from those helping her. It was an intriguing dynamic, especially with her two Alphas 🥵. While this was a slow burn, it was worth the wait.
Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the ARC.

I did enjoy the world building and her whole arc when she was on the road but getting back to another kingdom and the presence of yhe princes felt like she took a step back in character development. It was also unclear if there's a 2nd book bc a blurb at the end of this book didn't imply a sequel but it feels like there should be? conflicted about this one overall. It was okay
Fantastic novel. Until after arriving in Asadia when it hits a slump and stayed there. Smut took center stage to the plot. Castiel gave up too easily.
Honestly the Zohara mini-arc was perfection. I could read an entire book with the Xian family and their clumsy princess.

3.75 STARS!
For anyone who has yet to dip their toes into an Omegaverse, but is a fan of fantasy romance stories, this would be a great entrance into the genre. There are a lot more elements of plot and slow burn than you would find in most Omegaverse stories (or at least the ones I've read). I think the author did a great job with the world building throughout the story and many of the descriptions of people and places were detailed and beautifully written. Made it very easy to imagine the scenes throughout.
With only 2 MMC's, it also was not overwhelming and the relationships were given more opportunity to shine through. There were also some great elements with found family, political maneuvering, and the FMC coming into her own. Some of the things that might have prevented a higher rating for me include pacing issues, unsatisfactory ending (don't feel I know enough about the why), and sometimes the stakes not feeling high enough in relation to the story.
Still would definitely recommend and I will for sure be continuing with the next book when it's available!
Thank you to NetGalley, Victory Editing, and Enola M. Douglas for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Whisked Away by Enola M. Douglas. In this story Enola immerses you in a world of adventure and intrigue. The world building is wonderful and you feel like you're at the ocean, traveling with a caravan, smelling and tasting all of the wonders at a desert market, and hitting the high seas. Each location is well brought to life. The characters are on point, as well. The main character, Reiyana is an amazing FMC. She has so many wonderful sides to her. She's tender yet tough and grows and learns from all of her mistakes. I love that the two MMC's compliment each other and her. They help her grow and break out of her rigid beliefs and embrace her freedom. Many of the other characters shined as well! Little Mei Mei was a big favorite. If you want a story of growth, freedom, adventure, and love that takes place in the Omegaverse, then this is a great read for you!
“If the first Alpha was built to pierce, the second was meant to cleave. Where the first was golden and bright, the second was shadow and steel.” And the best part is that if she chooses one, she needs to have both.
I ACCEPT!
Whisked Away is a newly released slow burn why choose omegaverse Romantasy and first book in the Jewels of the Nine Kingdoms series. The gorgeous cover hides a story that is equally beautiful. This has become one of my favorite Omegaverse reads of all time and it has certainly earned its spot in my favorites of the year.
Whisked Away follows Princess Reiyana, who unexpectedly presents as an Omega at age twenty. Once a Beta with dreams of love and adventure, she is now a political prize—coveted by Alphas across the Nine Kingdoms. And two half-brothers, Prince Kaelendrin and Prince Alarik of Asadia enter the royal tournament to claim her hand. And the brothers have a pact, you see. If she chooses one, she has to accept the other.
I require everyone who loves a good fantasy to read this with me because my soul is on FIYAH with how much I loved this book. The worldbuilding is carefully curated, complete with a guide at the start of the book, woven into the story in a way that is not at all overwhelming or info-dumpy. And I adored the characters! Reiya is a wonderful FMC who showed strength and resilience in front of the foulest of betrayals and uncertainties, and the brothers, Kaelen and Alarik make me WEAK in the knees. They are both exactly the type of men I fall for systematically. Kaelen is charming, Alarik more stoic, both kind and respectful and powerful. I want to be squished into an Alpha sandwich where these two are concerned! And I adored their brother bond so much. Nothing could ever tear these two apart, despite the system itself seems to be built to pit them against each other.
Very excited to see how the series count
