Wow. What an incredible book. I laughed, I teared up, I felt wholeheartedly inspired. The artwork was gorgeous and the spreads in between each story need to be framed and put up all over my house. While I had heard of maybe 3-4 of these fantastic ladies I still learned more about them from this book. The ones I hadn’t heard of? I am so grateful to now have their stories of their badass accomplishments in my life. I cannot recommend this book enough. I feel like every woman in my life needs to read it. Each story was only a few pages long, but packed such a punch. Such an excellent work of art and literature.
My only critique would be that I wish the sources had been listed at the end. Just to back up what the author wrote about and as additional reading.

this was a fascinating read. i did not know most of the women featured here. reading it, it was quite sad to see how often these women's natural inclinations, talents or skills were stifled because of gender roles, expectations and glass ceilings. these women were then forced to (waste time) try their hand at more appropriate pursuits before they were finally able to pursue their dreams. and these were just women who had managed to break through the barriers and resistance in their way! i really wonder how much we would have gained if their gifts had been encouraged, nurtured and cultivated since they were kids.
the art is really cute and i appreciated that the translation told their stories in a way that highlighted their defiance, strong will and spirit.

a super interesting book, i loved the drawings. it was great to discover so many stories about women i'd never heard of before. i also appreciated the author's touch of humor.
