This book is great... It has turned me into a vegetarian! Seriously!
Spoilers i guess!
Very outdated nutrition info; still from the "fat makes you fat" era. It also not so subtly promotes veganism as the only correct way of eating and losing weight - an opinion I highly disagree with. It does bring up some valid points on weight-loss here and there, such as watching your liquid calories ESPECIALLY when it comes to alcohol - something many overlook.
Overall though, I cannot recommend this book for nutrition advice, however, it is a rather entertaining read.

Meh. Honestly the most disappointing this about this book was that there was nothing new to absorb. While reading it felt like all the information Freedman and Barnouin were providing was heavily regurgitated from studies they'd read and written in the book with what seems to be their trademark "sassiness" which is really just them throwing in the casual swear word or mild vulgarity while insulting the people reading their book to get a little insight. They're offensive the whole way through calling people fat asses and tubs of lard....not a way to get people on board.
The book wasn't written well and I found it quite preachy and absurd. I didn't realize that it was written with a mind to turn everyone vegetarian either. I'm totally fine with vegetarianism and people who choose not to eat meat, but I don't like the preachy attitude from those who are vegetarians towards those who choose to eat meat. I think there are conscientious ways to eat meat with a mind for the animal. Buying your meat directly from local farms for one rather than the processing plant meat. But I digress.
I just didn't like the way the book was written and the lack of any real information. These girls have no qualifications beyond their years working in the modelling world which we all know isn't a world where eating healthy is top priority.
Even if the book was all about eating veggies and no meat I could have jumped on board if I felt the information was intelligent and worth reading. Alas, I didn't. I already knew most of what these ladies were talking about and so I was disappointed that their 'view' wasn't really new or fresh but really just taking everything that has already been talked about and rewriting it as a way to belittle people who don't share their vegan view. Ah well.

I hated the bitches who wrote this book. They were mean and totally out of touch with reality. While a lot of the stuff they talked about was interesting, they sounded like such morons that I'm hesitant to take any of it seriously.

A friend loaned me this. The writing was fun at first and I was interested in what the authors had to say. But the style got old and I got tired of the authors trying to scare me into turning vegan. It was really all a bit much and not what I expected. I'm not finishing this nonsense.
A good 'kick-in-the-pants' reminder of all those being healthy living strategies I have already learned, but still need to master!
This book is fine. It starts out coming off as the ramblings of a nutty conspiracy theorist, but when it gets into the parts about factory farming it really starts to find its footing. There are definitely better books by more qualified professionals out there about cleaning up one's diet (eyyy, Michael Greger!) and animal ethics (what's up, Peter Singer!), but I appreciate the impact this book has had on so many people for simply being eye-catching and in-your-face about what it has to say.
Two former models write a poorly-informed book on how being vegans made them skinny. Of course they’re skinny — they're former models!
Here is an excerpt from the book, a section in which the authors advocate eating as little as possible:
"After a few days, you'll grow to love that empty feeling in your stomach and know that the initial headaches, nausea, and hunger were just your body's cleaning crew."
WTF? Anorexia, anyone? Headaches and nausea are NOT a good side effect of any healthy eating plan.

I stopped reading as soon as I learned that I need to be a vegetarian in order to be skinny. No thanks.
