Didn't like this book. At first I wasn't sure if it was because I just really didn't like the way this narrator handled the book and then I realized that's definitely a contributing factor but also I just didn't like this book.
There was a lot of 'poor me I'm a woman victim' built into this story and it was really pitiful. It made the main character really annoying and not at all relatable.
I think the author was trying to write feminist characters exacting revenge but it just came across as bitchy and man-hating. Man-hating =/= feminism.
The couple in this story were so hot and cold, all the way up to the end of the book. One page they were fighting, the next they were having sex. It was a rollercoaster. Made the story hard to believe and hard to enjoy.
Rain and Moonlight scent? I mean, what even is that?
Now that I'm listing this all out from my notes, I feel like it should be less than 2 stars. I usually reserve 1 start reviews for books I hate. I don't think I hated this book but then again, there were times I hated this book.

This is a Hate to Love Romance/Rom-Com. I really liked this book, it had a lot of cut and funny moments and I laughed a lot during this book. I think it is a pretty unique book and I never read a book like this before. The idea to have an agency to break the heart/ego of awful ex's, -cheater, -boss's or co-worker is great and Hartl illustrated it so good.
I also loved the to main character of the book. The people who work in this agency all have a background that fits perfectly for the story. "Every day, for three days, he'd strip away little pieces of my self-worth - and still I wanted him to love me. I begged for it (p.211)

It’s cute and lighthearted in that classic romcom way. I laughed a lot during this one, which doesn’t always happen. I appreciated getting to see and enjoy the revenge plots before Brinkley realized that what she was up to wasn’t necessarily empowerment. Sometimes I really wanna just see men lose a little bit of respect and get their pride hurt. I’d say it’s a high 4-4.5 overall. I had a fun time reading it, definitely a cute one for Valentines ominous up!
First and foremost, thanks so much to NetGalley and Gallery Books for sending me an early copy of Heartbreak for Hire for review— all opinions are my own.
Okay, here we fucking go! I loved this book! The premise of it is quite silly, actually, but also kind of hilarious and wonderful.
Brinkley is a totally normal, mess of a twenty-something year-old living in Chicago. She eats like trash, she drinks too much, she dresses her cats in funky sweaters, and she also happens to break hearts for a living. Typical millennial woman, right? All of this fucking the man without fucking the men (literally) is fine until she meets Mark, a target that she actually doesn’t hate, and that kind of reminds her of the past and also her future? But, oh, no! Now he works with her?! What the fuck will happen?
Their relationship is funny and sardonic. The steamy scenes are STEAMY, and the goal of HBH doesn’t seem to be what Brinkley and squad originally thought. Check it out on July 27th when it hits the shelves!
I loved the whole story, in fact, I devoured it. Definitely a 5 star review for me. Read a more in-depth review on my blog.

I thought I would like this one more because I liked The Lost Girls by the same author, but I just couldn't get into this one. There were some hard to believe turns of the plot and the pacing at the end was a little too fast with how things were resolved.
