I'm honestly not really sure what to say about this book. I really enjoyed the first book and had high hopes for this one but I was sadly disappointed. This was just a terrible book. I did not enjoy any scenes at all, everything was just bleh. I didn't like the plot, the characters, I can't say there was one thing in this book that I liked. This was just terrible.

- Leslie
Horrible main character. She was just ugh.
I can't even find words to say how much I disliked Leslie's character. She has recently been through traumatic events she chooses to get a tattoo that ties her to Irial. Now, after going through her traumatic events, I just can't believe how easy it was for her to just -- I'm just not going to say anything about that because I don't want to spoil anything for any of you. All I can say was that I did not like Leslie at all.

- Niall
When we are first introduced to him, I had such high hopes for him. But that plummeted rather fast. I can't say that I liked any of the characters in this book. Niall seemed like he was going to be such a great character, I thought I was going to fall in love with him, but sadly (again) I was disappointed with the outcome.

- Irial
No. No. No. No.
I hate Irial.
Can I just throw boulders at him? Ugh, even though he went through a change, I couldn't bring myself to like him. He was just ugh. I can't even find words to describe honestly.

Overall, I did not like this book at all. I do plan on reading the rest of the series because I did enjoy the first book but I'm expecting much anymore. After reading this one, I'm not sure if I want to get the next book anytime soon because this was just horrible.

I read this a while after I read Wicked Lovely, the first in this series, but I don't remember it as well so I guess I didn't enjoy it as much as Wicked Lovely.

I debated a while as to whether I would give this 3 or 4 stars; obviously I chose 3. Even though I liked Leslie, Niall, and Irial much more than Aislinn, Seth, and Keenan in Wicked Lovely, it was a tad depressing.

As much as Wicked Lovely wasn't totally my tea, and that Ink Exchange didn't totally captured me, I must admit Melissa Marr's writing for her characters was descriptive and I could really feel each character's style. Will read the next couple books in the series, but not sure if I will enjoy it or not. Probably a so-so again.

INK EXCHANGE is definitely the dark side of the fae world. I had a much harder time listening to it than I did WICKED LOVELY, book one in the series. Not that it wasn't good, it was just very brutal.
Leslie was probably the only bright spot and she was a victim trying to drag herself out of her hell. She puts on a brave face for her friends at school because she doesn't want them to know she has a missing mother, alcoholic father and a drug addicted brother who loans Leslie out to his druggie friends.
She visits her friend Rabbit's tattoo shop each evening after school and work, looking for the perfect tattoo that she thinks will help her dig herself out of her troubles. She finds it in Rabbit's special book, a book of fae tattoos, ones that will tie her to the fae world in ways she doesn't realize.
The ending is worth the wait as is watching Leslie grow as strong as she can through her travails.
I am looking forward to the third book in the series, FRAGILE ETERNITY.
Four dark fae beans.....

At times hard to follow, but I do appreciate that the main character is actually treated like a teenager, especially when it comes to the love triangle and relationships at the end...lets see what the next one has to offer!

I'm done. I just simply couldn't finish this book. 50 pages left and I just don't care enough about the characters to continue.

This one stars Leslie (took me a second to remember her name). She is the best friend of Aishlyn, former main character. She lives a hard life at home, with her father being an alcoholic and her brother being a druggie and selling her into prostitution. Leslie is obsessed with tattoos, and wants one of her own. What she doesn't know is that the tattoo she wants will forever bind her to the king of the faery Dark Court, Irial.

So, we had Summer Girls and Winter Girls. Now we have the Shadow Girls. Yay~ :/

Really, the only interesting part of the plot is her home life, and that is just simply mentioned in the beginning of the book, and barely touched upon again.

Leslie as a main character was boring and forgetable. Every time I picked up this book, it took me a second to realize who she was! I just have to say one thing:

Being obsessed with tattoos is NOT a personality trait. Characters need substance. Being obsessive is a trait, but NOT when it's being forced upon you by magic. :)

That brings us to the...er...love interests(?), Irial and Niall.

The scenes between her and either of them is sickening.

Leslie: Ohheyy~ *Touch touch*
Them: I will protect you.
Leslie: Okayy~ *feel feel*
Me: -_- *Puke puke*

Irial and Niall are both part of the Dark Court (though, as you know from the first, Niall left it for the Summer Court), which makes them addictive to humans. Humans become "drunk" when they touch them...you know, like kissing...or sex.

Niall actually has feelings for Leslie. Don't know why, but he does. Irial...I don't even know. I got the impression that he's used many human girls over the years.

I understand that these faeries are old, but I just couldn't stand the old speech. As time passes, they should pass with it. So, like, talk like normal people as to fit in.

The one star went to the writing, because let's face it, it's pretty damn good.

That is all I have to say. I just don't care enough about the book to downright bash it.

Once again, LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. I am definitely going to pick up the other ones after this. It's just too amazing to let slip by. Now, I do have to say one thing about this book. It's not as great as the first one. I really did enjoy it. Her writing style is still as amazing as ever with her beautiful choice in words and the way she makes them flow in her story. Also, I just love the relationship between Irial and Niall. What can I say? I'm a sucker for yaoi and Irial is such a yummy badass that I just HAVE to gobble him up! Mmm... Irial... anyway! I'm losing focuse. *Coughs* X3 But, I really did not enjoy Leslie's character. She got on my nerves from the beginning of the book to the end, which sucks because she ruined the book for me. I can't say exactly what it is that annoyed me about her. I guess it was how pathetic she was throughout the entire thing and I like my female leads to be strong. Either way, it was still a great read and I am looking forward to reading Fragile Eternity next.

A better review will come in the future!

I enjoyed this book more than Wicked Lovely. Will read next in the series.
