This book was MUCH more provacative than the first book. I will not allow my tween to read this book. There is way to much reference to negative sexual behaviors in this book. The story follows one of Ash's good friends who decides to get a tatoo which just happens to link her to the the dark fairy's court. I thought the first book was much better and more targeted to the middle school audience.

I endured a quarter of this book before I gave up. The writing is incredibly awkward and contains little dialogue but a LOT of words. The author is trying to express deeply psychological issues and behaviors by just telling us with pretty adjectives and constant italicized phrases. There needs to be more dialogue and less telling when it comes to the more disturbing parts. There’s also way too much possessiveness and lack of consent, while literally centering around a woman trying to free herself from her past trauma. The plot is probably going to be good but I can’t stand the experience of reading it. Cringey

This book bored me, the characters didn't interest me whatsoever, so I skimmed through it.

Oh my, it's so confusing! Well, not the plot that's confusing, but which boy to pick! I don't know if I want Irial or Niall! *it was easy in Wicked Lovely, I despised Keenan's evil seducing-those-who-are-taken-and-do-not-want-you-or-those-who-don't-want-to-be-fey-but-you-turned-them-into-it-anyways plans* But here, it seems like both men have pros and cons, and I can't seem to pick! -_-'

Anyways, the plot is sort of confusing, at first, but it clears up in the end, like it always does. And the ending is so sad! *NO PEEKING! Seriously!* You just wanna bawl your eyes out at the sadness, but it's not sad enough. Still. Go read it, it's a good story. Dudee.

After three years between books, I was able to get back into this series. It was a good book, I read it quickly.

I think I wanted to like this more than I actually did. I liked the characters: Leslie, Niall, even Irial to an extent. I was interested in the situations. Still, I had a lot of trouble reading this, and having finished, I think I know why. Even though Leslie was the main character, she was too passive for me. She spent most of the book being yanked every which way, with her only real choices being the putting on and the removal of the tattoo, and really only the second was an informed choice. Circumstances and other people's machinations trapped Leslie so much that this book was sometimes painful to read, because I wanted Leslie to be in control so much, and only at the end did she manage it. And maybe that's realistic, but realism doesn't make it any easier to read.
